KMA Cautions Against Unapproved Transport Fares

KMA’s Head of Transport Department, Mr. Randy Wilson, has cautioned drivers and transport operators against charging unapproved fares within the Kumasi Metropolis.

He has urged passengers to remain calm, assuring the public that the Assembly is actively working to curb the practice.

Passengers are also encouraged to report drivers charging unapproved fares by taking a clear picture of the vehicle’s number plate and submitting it to the Assembly for the necessary action.

Together, we can promote fair and accountable public transportation in Kumasi.

KMA SUPPORTS FOUR SHSs WITH 400 SETS OF FURNITURE

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has donated 400 sets of furniture to four Senior High Schools in Kumasi to improve teaching and learning.

Prince of Peace SHS, Wesley Girls’ SHS, Kumasi Senior High Technical School and Islamic SHS each received 100 sets.

This is part of KMA’s commitment to creating a conducive learning environment, with plans to procure and distribute over 1,000 more furniture sets before the end of the year.

KUMASI MAYOR CALLS FOR STRONGER KMA–KNUST PARTNERSHIP FOR CITY DEVELOPMENT

The future of Kumasi lies in strong partnerships, innovative ideas and practical solutions.

Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang has called for a stronger partnership between the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to tackle some of the key challenges confronting the city.

Receiving a KNUST delegation led by its new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christian Agyare, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Mayor highlighted waste management, traffic, street lighting, landscaping and technological challenges as areas where academia and local government can work together to deliver lasting solutions.

He encouraged KNUST departments and students to channel research and innovation towards real-life challenges in Kumasi, noting that practical solutions will help create a cleaner, safer and more attractive city, while supporting investment, job creation and sustainable development.

The Mayor also urged both institutions to leverage the global engagements of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to attract investors and explore innovative opportunities for Kumasi.

Prof. Agyare welcomed the proposal and expressed KNUST’s readiness to collaborate, while calling for the partnership to be formally structured.

When knowledge meets local action, Kumasi can move further, faster.

Airport Roundabout: A New Direction for a More Beautiful Kumasi 🟢

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, has engaged traders at the Airport Roundabout as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly steps up efforts to beautify and reorganise the city.

Traders have been given until 30th September 2026 to vacate the existing structures, with the option to establish KMA-approved stores that meet the Assembly’s required standards.

The Mayor has also directed the removal of damaged and deteriorating billboards as part of efforts to improve the appearance and orderliness of the metropolis.

A cleaner. Safer. More orderly Kumasi.
