In 2016, our engagement with farmers in Nandom to understand their agricultural challenges and how TIEME NDO could address them. Three prominent issues emerged:

1. Limited capital for upfront expenses on seeds, fertilizers, and other essential farming technologies.
2. Limited access to tractor services, leading to delayed planting.
3. Inadequate market opportunities, hindering the sale of their produce at favorable prices.

Fast forward to 2017, we launched TIEME NDO to tackle the primary concern of inadequate funding for essential farming tools. Now, farmers across three districts (Nandom, Lawra, and Lambussie) benefit from prompt access to seeds and fertilizers.

Today, I'm delighted to introduce TIEME NDO MECHANIZATION SERVICES, offering ploughing services to our farmers. Farmers in our network will enjoy timely access to ploughing services, eliminating the need to endure long queues for tractor services.

Reach out to us to schedule your ploughing services. Currently, our services are exclusively available to farmers in Nandom.

🌿Introducing Our New Logo!🌿

In 2023, we embarked on a journey to rebrand Tieme Ndo, beginning with a deep dive into the perspectives of our farmers and stakeholders. Understanding their perceptions of Tieme Ndo and their vision for its future was paramount. After gathering insights from our valued community, we set out to redesign our logo.

We're excited to share the result of this collaborative effort – our new logo! 🎉

The design features two leaves, symbolizing life, growth, and support. These leaves can be seen as arms embracing someone, representing the unwavering support and empowerment we provide to our community. Moreover, the imagery can be interpreted as a celebration of success, highlighting the collective achievements of our stakeholders.

In essence, our new logo embodies growth, sustainability, and community progress. It reflects our commitment to support 100,000 young farmers grow more food, earn more money and become financially independent.

We invite you to share your thoughts on our new identity, and we look forward to continuing our journey of positive impact and collaboration with you.

Since the launch of our Baafo program in November 2023, our team has been actively traveling to communities to engage with farmers and facilitate their savings contributions. The Baafo program, a savings and inputs financing initiative, helps farmers to set aside portions of their income in preparation for purchasing improved seeds and fertilizers ahead of the rainy season. Through this program, credible farmers also have the opportunity to receive additional farm inputs on credit.

If you are a young farmer or have family members engaged in farming who struggle to afford essential farm inputs during the planting season, the Baafo program is tailored to meet your needs. By registering for the program and initiating savings, you can effectively prepare for the upcoming rainy season. Our aim is to remove the financial barriers hindering access to productive farm inputs. Through participation in the Baafo program, you can expect to significantly increase your crop yields and income season after season.

Our Story

It all started in 2016 during the farming season, when our Founder - Moses Yangnemenga went to Nandom as usual to support his Dad on the farm. As usual, that year - 2016 was not different, despite toiling for months on the farm, harvest were meagre. Because, the Moses’ Dad did not have the cash to pay for fertilizer, seeds and other farm inputs upfront. Looking around, Moses observed that, this was a peculiar issue among all the farmers in his community. Farmers often plant their crops and then go to look for money to buy fertilizer and when they finally get the money to buy the fertilizer, the crops have already grown stunted. As such, they harvest little even when they apply fertilizer. Eventually, farmers become less interested in the use of fertilizer.

Thinking about this issue, Moses founded TIEME NDO a high impact social enterprise aimed at shaping rural farmers aspirations by providing them regular and timely access to improved basic farm inputs such as fertilizer, seeds, agrochemicals and agriculture support services like training, extension services, tractor services and market to sell the produce. Far beyond TIEME NDO’s commitment to increase crop yields and end hunger among rural farmers is to train farmers on how to add value to their farm produce before sending to the market to sell or before they are consumed.

TIEME NDO pilot started last year in May, 2017 at Nandom in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Interestingly, within 3 months of pilot, Tieme Ndo had distributed over 1000bags of fertilizer, seeds and weedicides to more than 400 farmers (more than initial target of 130 farmers) from 30 communities at Nandom. Each farmer was given 3 bags of fertilizer, certified maize seeds and 1 litre of selective weedicides. Training sessions were organised to teach farmers how to use the inputs appropriately. Coupled with this, a team of extension officers visit farmers on their fields to ensure the right application of agricultural practices.

TIEME NDO is still young and in this 2018, the startup is looking forward change the way rural farmers view agriculture. If you are young woman or man with the desire to farm, TIEME NDO is your best friend. Reach out to us and we will help you. Organisations and individuals willing to support or partner with us, don’t hesitate. Send us an email and let’s talk.
