The Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Faustina Abulu, yesterday embarked on a revenue mobilisation exercise across selected parts of the municipality. The exercise was undertaken with the support of senior management staff and Honourable Assembly Members.

The team visited various business premises to encourage traders and business owners to fulfil their revenue obligations in support of local development. As part of the exercise, some shops that had failed to comply with their revenue obligations, were temporarily locked in accordance with the Assembly's revenue enforcement measures.

Hon. Faustina Abulu emphasized that internally generated funds remain vital for the provision of essential services, infrastructure development, and the overall growth of the municipality. She appealed to all businesses within the Municipality to honour their civic responsibilities by paying their rates and levies promptly to avoid sanctions. She indicated that the Assembly will embark on such operations in the coming weeks, fairly, transparently, and without fear or favour.

3 UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK HANDED OVER TO AFORIGABISI

Today, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly, Hon. Faustina Abulu, officially handed over a fully furnished 3-unit classroom block with an office and sanitary facilities to the Aforigabisi community.

The ceremony was attended by officials of the Ghana Education Service (GES), staff of the Municipal Assembly, some opinion leaders, and members of the community, all of whom welcomed the project as a major boost to education in the area.

In the Hon. MCE’s remarks, she stated that the new facility will help decongest existing classrooms, provide a more conducive teaching and learning environment, and contribute to reducing school dropout and early marriage by improving access to quality basic education.

She urged the school authorities, pupils, and the community to cultivate a strong maintenance culture to ensure the facility serves future generations.

DVLA OFFICE OPENED IN NAVRONGO

The Kassena Nankana Municipality has seen another milestone towards improving public service delivery with the commissioning of a new Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office at the BRC Office Complex on Tuesday.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, the Member of Parliament for the constituency, traditional leaders, heads of departments, and other distinguished guests.

The establishment of the DVLA office marks a major milestone for the municipality, bringing essential licensing and vehicle registration services closer to residents. The facility is expected to reduce the cost and time associated with accessing DVLA services outside the municipality, improve regulatory compliance, enhance road safety, and support local economic activities by making public services more accessible.

NEW CHPS COMPOUND AT PINDAA

Yesterday, the Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly had officially taken over a newly completed 1-No. CHPS Compound comprising staff accommodation, an Out-Patient Department (OPD), a dispensary, and furnished facilities at Pinda from the contractor for onward handover to the Ghana Health Service and the beneficiary community.

In attendance were Chiefs, Assembly Member, Opinion leaders, Staff of the GHS, staff of the Assembly and community members who expressed immense joy and appreciation for the successful completion of the project.

Hon. MCE reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery by investing in quality health infrastructure that brings essential services closer to the people. She noted that the completion of the CHPS Compound represents another significant step towards improving access to primary healthcare within the municipality. She further appealed to the Ghana Health Service, community leaders, and residents to ensure the facility is properly maintained and protected so that it continues to serve its intended purpose for many years to come.

On behalf of the community, the chiefs and residents expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly for delivering the much-needed health facility, describing it as a major intervention that will improve healthcare access and enhance the well-being of the people of Pinda.

6 UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK AT NAWOGNIA

The Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly has officially taken over a newly completed 6-unit classroom block, toilet and urinal facility, changing room, with school furniture at Nawognia from the contractor for onward handover to the Ghana Education Service and the beneficiary community.

The ceremony was attended by traditional authorities, the Honourable Assembly Member, officials of the Assembly, officials of GES and members of the community.

The successful completion and handover of the facility further underscores the Assembly's commitment to promoting equitable access to quality education and improving the welfare of communities across the municipality

Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Faustina A. Abulu reiterated the Assembly's unwavering commitment to improving access to quality education through the provision of modern and conducive learning facilities. LAUNCH OF FREE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE POLICY

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Kassena-Nankana Municipality, Hon. Faustina A. Abulu, today joined the Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders at the Navrongo Health Centre for the official launch of the Government's Free Primary Health Care Policy, a flagship initiative aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for all.

In her remarks, She commended the dedication and resilience of health professionals across the municipality, expressing appreciation for their unwavering commitment to delivering quality healthcare services despite the challenges they face.

She highlighted the transformative impact the policy is expected to have, particularly for women, children, and the elderly, by removing financial barriers to essential primary healthcare services and improving health outcomes in the various communities.

Hon. Faustina Abulu also appealed to health workers to remain patient, compassionate, and committed as the programme is rolled out, emphasizing that their continued dedication will be key to the successful implementation of the policy.

DAY ONE OF THE UPPER EAST DEVELOPMENT PLANNING AND BUSINESS EXHIBITION FORUM

The Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly yesterday participated in the opening session of the Three-Day Upper East Development Planning and Business Exhibition Forum held at the Desert Pastures Auditorium in Bolgatanga.

The forum, organized under the auspices of the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with Members of Parliament from the region and the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, witnessed the unveiling of the Upper East Regional 10-Year Development Framework (2026–2035). The framework is expected to unlock significant investments, promote enterprise development, create sustainable employment opportunities, and accelerate the socio-economic transformation of the region.

Held under the theme, "Prosperity Through Enterprise, Agriculture, Resilience and Livelihoods (PEARL)," the forum brought together government institutions, development partners, the private sector, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on practical strategies for driving inclusive and sustainable regional development.

As part of the day's engagements, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Faustina A. Abulu, made a passionate appeal through interactions with Augustus Goosie Tanoh, the President's representative at the forum, for the urgent need in improving the road network within the Greater Navrongo area. The discussion emphasized the importance of quality road infrastructure in enhancing access to markets, attracting investment, facilitating the movement of goods and services, and improving livelihoods.

The Assembly remains committed to working collaboratively with the Department of Urban Roads and other relevant stakeholders to advocate for the rehabilitation and development of critical road infrastructure across the municipality.

Today, the Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of Hon. Faustina A. Abulu, disbursed the Disability Fund to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality to support their livelihoods, health, and education.

In the Hon. MCE’s remarks, She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to promoting inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for all persons, especially vulnerable groups. She encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the various support provided to improve their well-being and impact the society positively.

She added that, “The Assembly is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in the development process and will continue to champion initiatives that empower Persons with Disabilities to live fulfilling and productive lives”.

As part of the support package, seventy (70) beneficiaries engaged in various income-generating activities received an amount of GH¢3,000.00 each to strengthen and expand their businesses.

Under the health support component, 3 physically disabled beneficiaries received three (3) tricycles each, another physically disabled person received one (1) artificial leg support, prosthetic repair service to a physically diabled, one (1) wheelchair to a beneficiary, as well as one (1) pair of crutches and a walker to a beneficiary. These provisions is aimed to improve their mobility and quality of life.

The education component of the support included the provision of a tape recorder for a visually impaired student, two (2) hearing aids to two hearing impaired person , and an electric bicycle to a studentt. Additionally, school fees and accommodation bills of a visually impaired student fully funded,while seventy-four (74) students in special schools received support to cater for their basic needs.
