ATWIMA MPONUA JOINS NATIONWIDE THANKSGIVING AS DCE DECLARES DISTRICT’S BAUXITE WEALTH A FUTURE GAME-CHANGER FOR GHANA

The Atwima Mponua District joined the rest of the nation on Wednesday, 1st July 2026, to observe the National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer with a solemn yet joyous ceremony held at the Mount Zion Methodist Church in Nyinahin.

The event brought together the District Chief Executive, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, staff of the Atwima Mponua District Assembly, heads of departments, security services, agencies and other public institutions within the district, alongside members of the Local Council of Churches and scores of worshippers who gathered to celebrate God’s abundant blessings upon Ghana.

The thanksgiving service was characterized by vibrant praise and worship as believers danced to inspiring gospel melodies rendered by a talented team of singers. The atmosphere of gratitude and unity set the tone for heartfelt prayers offered for the peace, stability and prosperity of the nation. Special prayers were said for the leadership of Ghana, led by President John Dramani Mahama, traditional authorities and all persons entrusted with positions of responsibility.

Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim reflected on the many blessings God has bestowed upon Ghana, particularly the country’s enduring peace and stable political environment, which continue to distinguish it among nations. He urged citizens to remain grateful and to uphold the values that have sustained the country’s democratic journey over the years.

The DCE further highlighted the immense natural resources within Atwima Mponua, noting that the district’s vast bauxite deposits could play a pivotal role in Ghana’s economic transformation in the years ahead. According to him, the presence of such valuable resources is a testament to God’s favour and an opportunity that must be harnessed responsibly for national development.

Hon. Ibrahim also called on citizens to demonstrate responsibility in their daily lives by upholding honesty, integrity and godly values. He stressed that fulfilling one’s duties conscientiously is a practical way of honouring God and contributing to the progress of society.

Touching on national development, the DCE encouraged Ghanaians to support the vision and mandate of President John Dramani Mahama and work collectively towards the country’s advancement. He further cautioned against indiscriminate development practices, particularly the construction of structures on waterways and ecologically sensitive Ramsar sites, warning that such actions often result in devastating consequences for communities and the environment.

The ceremony ended on a spiritually uplifting note as the Deputy Chief Imam offered the closing prayer and called for unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among all Ghanaians regardless of faith or background.

The National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer once again served as a powerful reminder of the need for gratitude, national unity and collective responsibility as Ghana continues its journey towards sustainable growth and development.

ATWIMA MPONUA ENTERS A NEW ERA AS HON. ISSAHAK IBRAHIM CUTS SOD FOR GAME-CHANGING TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTRE

Yesterday, 19th May 2026, will forever remain a landmark day in the history of the Atwima Mponua District as Hon. Issahak Ibrahim officially performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the Otaakrom Technical Training Centre in partnership with the Social Investment Fund (SIF).

The colourful and historic event attracted a massive gathering of Chiefs, opinion leaders, clergy, media practitioners and residents from Otaakrom and surrounding communities, all united by a shared vision for transformational development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The atmosphere was filled with excitement, hope and renewed confidence in the future of the district.

The ceremony brought together distinguished stakeholders including Mr. Abass Nurudeen Esq., Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Fund (SIF), representatives from the Ministry of Finance, officials from SIF, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of TVET Services, the District Director of Education for Atwima Mponua, as well as the Principal of the Otaakrom Technical Institute, who hosted the programme.

In their various addresses, speakers underscored the critical role of technical and vocational education in empowering the youth, reducing unemployment, driving industrial growth and transforming local economies. They described the project as a bold investment in human capital and a major step toward positioning Atwima Mponua as a hub for skills development and innovation.

Delivering a highly inspiring keynote address, the CEO of SIF revealed that the ultra-modern facility is expected to be completed within 18 months and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and training tools to ensure quality practical education for students and trainees. According to him, the centre will prepare the youth for modern industrial opportunities and equip them with employable skills to compete in today’s rapidly evolving world.

Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, in his remarks, described the project as more than just the construction of buildings. According to him, the initiative represents hope, opportunity, innovation and the birth of a skilled generation capable of driving the future development of Atwima Mponua and Ghana as a whole.

HON. ISSAHAK VISIT BECE CENTRES WITH SURPRISE SUPPORT—CANDIDATES RECEIVE BOOST, SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCED!

Yesterday 4th May 2026, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, together with the District Co-ordinating Director (DCD), Mr. Samuel Gyan, and a dedicated team from the Atwima Mponua District Assembly, embarked on a monitoring visit to selected examination centres across the district to observe the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The visit provided the team with a first-hand view of the smooth and orderly conduct of the examinations, thanks to the commitment and professionalism of supervisors, invigilators, and all stakeholders involved. As part of support from his office, Hon. Issahak presented drinks, biscuits, and water to candidates to keep them refreshed and focused throughout the process. A modest donation was also made to supervisors and invigilators to help address any administrative needs.

During the visit, the team interacted with candidates, encouraging them to give their best, remain confident, and uphold integrity in their academic journey. Hon. Issahak advised students to avoid any form of examination malpractice, stressing that such actions could undermine their future. He further revealed that his office has instituted scholarship packages for outstanding students to support their progression to Senior High School.

“Education remains a cornerstone of development, and we are committed to creating an enabling environment for our students to succeed,” he stated.

In total, 3,069 candidates sat for the examination across 13 centres, comprising 1,555 males and 1,514 females.

FROM PROMISE TO ACTION: HON. SETH OSEI AKOTO BREAKS GROUND FOR POLICE STATIONS AT KOTOKUOM AND BAYEREBON No.5.

In a bold move to strengthen security and restore public confidence, Hon. Seth Osei Akoto, Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua Constituency, has officially cut sod for the construction of two modern police stations in Kotokuom and Bayerebon No.5 on 31st March and 1st April 2026 respectively. The projects, which fulfill a key campaign promise made during his 2024 tour, are expected to significantly enhance security presence across the district’s over 500 communities and serve as a strong deterrent to crime.

Addressing enthusiastic residents, Hon. Akoto underscored the urgent need for expanded security infrastructure in the area, stressing that safety remains a critical foundation for development. He charged contractors to prioritize local labour to stimulate economic growth within the communities, while urging chiefs and opinion leaders to take ownership of the projects and ensure accountability in their ex*****on.

The MP also used the platform to voice deep concern over the declining fortunes of cocoa farmers, describing the current drop in produce as unprecedented in Ghana’s 87-year cocoa history. He revealed that the Minority in Parliament is actively engaging government to restore favourable cocoa prices to sustain farmers’ livelihoods. In a firm caution, the member of Parliament advised farmers against selling their lands to illegal miners, warning that such practices continue to undermine Ghana’s global cocoa standing.

The gesture has been widely welcomed by traditional leaders and residents, who expressed gratitude to Hon. Akoto for delivering on his promises and taking concrete steps to address pressing security challenges.

A NEW DAWN FOR GIRLS’ EDUCATION; HON. IBRAHIM ISSAHAK CUT-SOD FOR NYINAHIN CATHOLIC SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.

On 1st April 2026, a powerful step was taken toward transforming the future of education in Atwima Mponua, as Hon. Issahak Ibrahim officially cut the sod for the construction of a modern one-storey girls’ dormitory at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School.

This milestone project is more than bricks and mortar, it is a bold statement of commitment to opportunity, dignity, and equal access to education for young girls in the district.

In an emotional address, the District Chief Executive expressed profound gratitude to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for making this life-changing intervention possible through GETFund. He emphasized that the new facility will significantly ease the burden on students who travel long distances daily, while also encouraging higher female enrolment and retention.

“This is not just the beginning of a building,” Hon. Issahak Ibrahim declared. “It is the beginning of renewed hope, hope for safer accommodation, improved learning conditions, and a future where every girl can pursue her education without barriers.”

ATWIMA MPONUA INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION TURNED TEACHERS INTO HEROES.

The 69th celebration of Ghana Independence Day in the Atwima Mponua District took on an extraordinary atmosphere on March 6, 2026, as school children dazzled the crowd with colorful parades and patriotic displays that left spectators in awe.

The grand event brought together a distinguished gathering of security personnel, traditional authorities, political party representatives, clergy, educationists, students and respected opinion leaders from across the district. Their presence reflected the unity and pride that define the annual national celebration.

Delivering the presidential address on behalf of the government, District Chief Executive Issahak Ibrahim emphasized the importance of unity in diversity as a key driver for the growth of the Ghanaian economy. He noted that despite Ghana’s many ethnic backgrounds, national progress depends on cooperation and collective effort.

Hon. Issahak Ibrahim also highlighted several social intervention programs introduced by the government since assuming office in 2025 under the leadership of the National Democratic Congress administration. Among them are the “No Stress Policy,” which pays fees for first-year university students, the nationwide distribution of sanitary pads to female pupils in basic schools, and free tertiary education for persons living with disabilities.

He further mentioned youth empowerment initiatives such as Adwumawura and Nkoko Nketinketi, programs aimed at boosting employment and supporting small-scale poultry farming.

At the district level, the DCE revealed several ongoing infrastructure projects in the education sector. These include the construction of a Kindergarten block with ancillary facilities in Akotaa, a six-unit classroom block in Agogoso, and the distribution of over 1,000 dual desks to schools across the district to improve learning conditions.

SHOPS CLOSED, MUSIC BLAZING, STREETS SPARKLING: HON. ISSAHAK LEADS MASSIVE CLEAN-UP EXERCISE IN NYINAHIN

On Friday, 27th February 2026, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua District, Hon. Issahak, rolled up his sleeves and stepped onto the streets of Nyinahin with a powerful message — cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility.

What unfolded was nothing short of extraordinary. From the Forestry Junction stretching through to Kyeraaso Nkwanta, the town witnessed an overwhelming show of unity as community members, indigenes, political party representatives, public servants, and well-wishers joined forces for a massive clean-up exercise. Shops were temporarily closed as residents prioritized the national call to action, turning the usually busy streets into a hub of purposeful activity.

Armed with brooms, shovels, and wheelbarrows, participants cleared choked gutters, swept the streets, and restored sanitation to key parts of the township. The energy was electric — and not just from the hard work. Mega sound systems followed the crowd, blasting lively tunes that transformed the exercise into a spirited community celebration. It was service blended with entertainment, responsibility mixed with rhythm.

Addressing participants during the exercise, Hon. Issahak emphasized his vision for a healthier district. He passionately called on residents to take sanitation seriously, warning against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and the dangerous practice of building on drainage paths — a major cause of flooding and environmental hazards.

HOPE RISES IN ATWIMA MPONUA DISTRICT;COMMISSIONING OF SCHOOL AND HEALTH FACILITIES AND JOBS SPARK JUBILATION IN KOTOKUOM AND ANWIAFUTU.

Joy swept through the communities of Kotokuom and Anwiafutu on February 24, 2026, as residents gathered in large numbers to witness a transformational moment, one that many described as a turning point in their development journey.

Leading the charge was Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, District Chief Executive, who together with his Coordinating Director Mr. Samuel Kwasi Gyan and their entourage commissioned a newly constructed Kindergarten (KG) block at Kotokuom and officially handed over health staff quarters at Anwiafutu. For communities that have long battled infrastructure deficits, the occasion was more than ceremonial; it was also historic.

With a firm focus on infrastructure as a catalyst for progress, Hon. Issahak commended his predecessor Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo for initiating the turnkey projects, emphasizing that continuity in leadership is key to sustainable development using the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF). He urged residents to safeguard the facilities through proper maintenance and discipline to ensure lasting benefits for future generations.

Beyond brick and mortar, the DCE outlined broader government interventions aimed at economic empowerment. However, he appealed to the DCE to ensure the completion and tarring of remaining road networks to further unlock the area’s economic potential.

At Anwiafutu, the chief, Nana Adade Agyei lauded the commissioning of the health staff quarters, describing it as a major relief to the community’s struggling health sector. With accommodation now available for health workers, residents anticipate improved healthcare delivery. He also called for the tarring of their road, which serves as a vital economic link to the main highway and facilitates the transport of farm produce to market.

The day’s impact extended beyond infrastructure. Upon returning to the district office, Hon. Issahak distributed 20 sewing machines, four industrial sewing machines, and two hairdryers to twenty apprentices and six master craftspersons. The gesture forms part of a deliberate government effort to empower young people through skills development under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP).

According to the DCE, the support package includes a monthly stipend and additional incentives designed to give trainees the financial stability needed to master their trades. He passionately appealed to the youth to seize such life-changing opportunities, stressing that skills acquisition remains a powerful pathway to financial independence.
