ATWIMA MPONUA ENTERS A NEW ERA AS HON. ISSAHAK IBRAHIM CUTS SOD FOR GAME-CHANGING TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTRE
Yesterday, 19th May 2026, will forever remain a landmark day in the history of the Atwima Mponua District as Hon. Issahak Ibrahim officially performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the Otaakrom Technical Training Centre in partnership with the Social Investment Fund (SIF).
The colourful and historic event attracted a massive gathering of Chiefs, opinion leaders, clergy, media practitioners and residents from Otaakrom and surrounding communities, all united by a shared vision for transformational development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The atmosphere was filled with excitement, hope and renewed confidence in the future of the district.
The ceremony brought together distinguished stakeholders including Mr. Abass Nurudeen Esq., Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Fund (SIF), representatives from the Ministry of Finance, officials from SIF, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of TVET Services, the District Director of Education for Atwima Mponua, as well as the Principal of the Otaakrom Technical Institute, who hosted the programme.
In their various addresses, speakers underscored the critical role of technical and vocational education in empowering the youth, reducing unemployment, driving industrial growth and transforming local economies. They described the project as a bold investment in human capital and a major step toward positioning Atwima Mponua as a hub for skills development and innovation.
Delivering a highly inspiring keynote address, the CEO of SIF revealed that the ultra-modern facility is expected to be completed within 18 months and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and training tools to ensure quality practical education for students and trainees. According to him, the centre will prepare the youth for modern industrial opportunities and equip them with employable skills to compete in today’s rapidly evolving world.
Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, in his remarks, described the project as more than just the construction of buildings. According to him, the initiative represents hope, opportunity, innovation and the birth of a skilled generation capable of driving the future development of Atwima Mponua and Ghana as a whole.
“Indeed, the sod has been duly cut, and a new chapter has begun for TVET education in Atwima Mponua,” he stated passionately.
The establishment of the Otaakrom Technical Training Centre stands as a shining testament to visionary leadership, strategic collaboration and an unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and community transformation. Without doubt, the future of Atwima Mponua looks brighter than ever.
