NINGO_PRAMPRAM DCE ENGAGES PRAMPRAM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ON PROPOSED 24-HOUR ECONOMY MARKET PROJECT
District Chief Executive, Hon. Raphael Uriel Nartey led a team of Management on Wednesday to call on the Prampram Traditional Council on the readiness of government to set up a 24 hr market at Prampram.
The project when completed will boost the economic vibrancy of the township.
The meeting was convened in the presence of the Paramount Chief, Nene Tetteh Waka III. The DCE presented the project’s scope, site location, technical specifications and implementation timeline, he also used the opportunity to secure the requisite engagement of the Traditional Authority in accordance with customary and administrative protocols.
The DCE briefed the council that the contractor will be on site soon and called on them to impress upon the current occupants of the land: station drivers, sellers, to move their wares and make way for the contractor when the time arrives.
The delegation from the Ningo Prampram District Assembly was received by the Paramount Chief, Nene Tetteh Waka I and his council members. The delegation was led by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Raphael Uriel Nartey, the Coordinating Director, Madam Vida Awuku, the District Works Engineer, the District Physical Planning Officer, the District Development Planner and other technical officers of the Assembly.
Stakeholder representatives in attendance comprised the Ghana Private Road Transport Union [GPRTU] Prampram Branch, the Prampram Market Women Association and the Dangme Rural Bank – Prampram Branch whose existing car park is situated within the boundaries of the proposed market site.
Deliberations addressed land use arrangements, traffic and access management, resettlement considerations for affected stakeholders and coordination mechanisms for the construction and operational phases.
The engagement concluded with acknowledgment by the Traditional Council of the project’s relevance to local economic development and with a mutual undertaking to maintain collaboration, information sharing and dispute resolution mechanisms throughout the project lifecycle.
