NSA Ready to Host Sompa Invitational Cup at Coronation Park

The National Sports Authority (NSA), Bono Region is fully prepared to host the upcoming Sompa Invitational Cup from 12-16th August, 20226 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Management has put the necessary arrangements in place to ensure that the facility is ready to provide a conducive and safe environment for the competition.

The NSA remains committed to supporting sporting events that promote talent development, healthy competition, and sports development in the Bono Region.

The Authority looks forward to welcoming the participating teams, officials, supporters, and all sports enthusiasts to the Coronation Park for what promises to be an exciting football spectacle.

SESSA 2026 Media/Press Launch Successfully Held

The Media/Press Launch of the 2026 Bono Regional Security Services Games (SESSA) was successfully held at the New Dressing Room, Sunyani Coronation Park, with an impressive turnout from the media and the participating security services.

The event attracted widespread media coverage, with journalists from various radio stations, television networks, and online media houses in attendance to support the launch and help amplify the vision of the Games.

Representatives of the participating security agencies: including the Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana National Ambulance Service, and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), were present to reaffirm their commitment to making the 2026 edition a memorable success.

Addressing participants, officials of the National Sports Authority emphasized that this year's Games will build on previous editions by promoting unity, discipline, teamwork, physical fitness, and stronger collaboration among the security services.

The successful launch has generated excitement and renewed enthusiasm among stakeholders, with all indications pointing to an even bigger and more competitive 2026 Bono Regional Security Services Games, scheduled for 19th September, 2026, at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

With the overwhelming support received from the media, security services, and stakeholders, the National Sports Authority, Bono Region, is confident that SESSA 2026 promises to be one of the most successful editions in the history of the Games.

Hoops for All Youth Camp Ends Successfully in Sunyani

The Hoops for All Youth Camp successfully concluded on Sunday, 19th July, 2026, after three days of basketball development activities at the SSNIT Basketball Court in Sunyani.

Organised by Xcel Basketball Academy in partnership with the National Sports Authority, Bono Region, Ghana Basketball Association, and the GSP Basketball League, the camp brought together 50 young athletes (40 males and 10 females) aged between 7 and 20 years.

Participants received training in basketball skills, tactics, officiating, media engagement, and leadership from experienced facilitators, including Martin Mmieh (FIBA Referee), Coach Jay 1, Eric Ankamah, and Cliff of the Ghana Basketball Federation.

The camp concluded with the presentation of certificates to all participants, who left with enhanced skills, discipline, teamwork, and renewed passion for the game.

The Hoops for All Youth Camp is expected to become an annual event, contributing significantly to the growth and development of basketball in the Bono Region.

Bono Regional Draught Championship Ends Successfully at Coronation Park

The Bono Regional Draught Championship was successfully held on Saturday, 4th July 2026, at the Sunyani Coronation Park. Proceedings commenced promptly at 9:00 a.m. following an executive meeting during which members deliberated on the competition format, balloting procedures, and prizes for the championship.

The meeting was attended by the Bono Regional Executives of the Draught Association, the National President of the Association, the Ashanti Regional Organizer, and the National Organizer, who moderated the discussions.

A total of 29 players registered and participated in the competition, which was conducted in a peaceful, fair, and highly competitive atmosphere, underscoring the growing popularity of draught in the Bono Region.

At the end of the championship, the following players emerged victorious:

1st Place: Addae Frimpong – GH¢2,000

2nd Place: Poly Filla – GH¢1,500

3rd Place: Andy Amoah (“Paa Joe”) – GH¢1,000

4th Place: Kinsley Adusei – GH¢500

The championship concluded successfully at 5:30 p.m. amid scenes of joy, unity, and sportsmanship. The event achieved its objectives of promoting the game of draught, providing a platform for healthy competition, and strengthening collaboration between the Draught Association of Ghana and the National Sports Authority.

The successful organization of the championship is expected to contribute significantly to the continued growth and development of draught in the Bono Region.

Bono Team Wins Bronze at Dean Heyes Invitational Classic Meet

The Bono Region has added another milestone to its growing athletics success after its Under-15 Girls Team secured a bronze medal at the Dean Heyes Invitational Classic Meet, held on 20th June, 2026 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The competition brought together some of the country's most promising young athletes, providing a platform to showcase emerging talent and promote athletics development at the grassroots level.

The Bono team displayed remarkable determination, teamwork, and resilience throughout the competition, earning a well-deserved bronze medal in the Under-15 Girls category.

Wenchi Municipal Assembly and NSA Hold Maiden Quarterly Health Walk and Keep-Fit Exercise

The Wenchi Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the National Sports Authority (NSA), successfully organized the Maiden Quarterly Municipal Health Walk and Keep-Fit Exercise on Saturday, 27th June, 2026, bringing together residents, keep-fit clubs, and stakeholders in a shared commitment to healthy living.

The event was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, and the Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Kwame Baa Mensa, who both reaffirmed their commitment to promoting physical fitness and wellness among the people of the municipality.

The health walk commenced from Jubilee Park and proceeded through the principal streets of Wenchi before climaxing at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, where participants engaged in an energetic keep-fit session led by professional instructors.

The exercise attracted members of various keep-fit clubs, youth groups, public servants, traditional leaders, students, and members of the general public, all united by the common goal of promoting healthier lifestyles through regular physical activity.

Addressing participants, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi commended the impressive turnout and encouraged residents to make physical exercise a regular part of their daily lives. She emphasized that preventive healthcare through exercise remains one of the most effective ways of reducing lifestyle-related diseases while improving overall well-being.

On his part, Mr. Kwame Baa Mensa applauded the collaborative efforts between the Municipal Assembly, the NSA, and the various keep-fit clubs, describing the initiative as a significant step towards building a healthier and more active municipality. NSA Regional Director Visits Wenchi Municipality Ahead of Health Walk Event

The Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Kwame Baa Mensa, has embarked on a working visit to the Wenchi Municipality as part of preparations for the upcoming Health Walk Event scheduled for Saturday.

As part of the visit, the Regional Director, accompanied by the Wenchi Municipal Sports Director, toured key sports facilities within the municipality to assess their condition and readiness for sporting and recreational activities.

A major highlight of the visit was an inspection of the Nana Abrefa Nketiah VII Sports Stadium, formerly known as the Wenchi Sports Stadium. The visit provided an opportunity to evaluate the state of the facility and discuss measures aimed at enhancing its utilization and maintenance.

The Regional Director reiterated the Authority's commitment to promoting sports, recreation, and healthy living among residents while ensuring that sporting infrastructure across the region receives the necessary attention.

The working visit forms part of the NSA Bono Region's broader agenda to strengthen sports development, improve facilities, and encourage active participation in health and fitness activities throughout the region.
