MCE PAYS WORKING VISIT TO KWATIRE POLYCLINIC
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani West, Hon. Kwasi Asante-Boateng (Esq), paid a working visit to the Kwatire Polyclinic on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, to engage with management and assess the progress and challenges confronting the facility.
Welcoming the MCE, the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Gunguni M. Daniel, expressed appreciation on behalf of his team, noting that it had been a considerable period since such a visit was undertaken. He commended the staff for their dedication to serving the people despite the daunting constraints and highlighted pressing challenges facing the facility.
Among the challenges outlined were the lack of an anaesthesia machine, a phototherapy machine, inadequate space, and insufficient beds. Dr. Gunguni lamented that due to limited space, management was sometimes compelled to discharge patients prematurely to make room for others, while several cases also had to be referred to other healthcare facilities.
He further appealed to the MCE for support in completing a three-storey building project initiated by the community two years ago, which, when completed, would significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to serve patients.
In response, Hon. Kwasi Asante-Boateng (Esq) commended the management and staff of the polyclinic for their dedication and urged them to continue giving their best to the community. He assured them that he had taken note of all the challenges raised and would brief the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, so they could collaborate to address the concerns and strengthen healthcare delivery in the municipality.
The MCE later toured the facility to observe firsthand some of the challenges highlighted by management.
