*GET TO KNOW DR PRINCE HAMID ARMAH*
Hon. Dr. Prince Hamid Armah is one of the freshmen legislators in Ghana’s eighth parliament, representing Kwesimintsim constituency in the Western Region. He holds a PhD degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Aberdeen, UK with specialization in Curriculum, Pedagogy and Education Policy, an M.Ed in Mathematics from the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana and a B.Ed (Hons) in Mathematics from the same university. His scholarship centres around intersection of education policy and practice, focusing on inequities in students’ educational outcomes and the policies and practices that shape those outcomes.
Dr Armah has nearly two decades of experience in teaching, research, consulting and policy engagement in the education sector in both Ghana and the United Kingdom contexts. He is a passionate advocate for reforms in the sector and a noted expert in management and professional development, curriculum and assessment development, teacher training, inclusive education and the application of policy to improve and align educational outcomes for children from diverse backgrounds. He is a widely published author with over seventy-five publications including policy documents, reports, speeches and peer and non-peer reviewed papers to his credit which are regularly cited in the local and international media. He comes into the house with diverse experiences in project management, communications, public finance management, monitoring and evaluation and successful record in entrepreneurship.
Dr Armah has, through his consulting work, made several key contributions to the evolution of education policy in the country in recent years. He served on the technical team that completed the finalisation of the Government of Ghana’s Education Strategic Plan (2018 – 2030) and the associated Education Sector Medium-Term Development Plan (2018-2021). He was also the lead education consultant to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development
