Lawyer FF Faidoo Mayor Of Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis

01/06/2026

As Mayor of the city, my ultimate agenda is to address the long-standing challenges that have remained unresolved and to demonstrate leadership through action rather than rhetoric.

A strategic and measured approach is key. We ask for a little patience as we work diligently to implement sustainable solutions. With commitment, collaboration, and perseverance, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly will get there.

Together, we will build a cleaner, more efficient, and more prosperous metropolis for all.

Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, earlier today presented two rams to the Western Regional Chief Imam and the Takoradi Chief Imam respectively on my behalf in support of the Eid-ul-Adha prayers scheduled for tomorrow.

The gesture forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening the long-standing relationship between the Assembly and the Muslim community, while supporting them in the observance of this important religious occasion.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim community, the Western Regional Chief Imam expressed profound gratitude to the Hon. Mayor and the Assembly for the kind gesture and continuous support over the years. He further offered prayers for wisdom, peace, and progress for the Assembly and the entire Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

I extend warm Eid-ul-Adha wishes to all Muslims and encourage all to celebrate the occasion peacefully, with love and in unity.

Together with a project monitoring team from the Ministry of Local Government, we paid a working visit to some stalled projects in the metropolis including the Takoradi Market Circle to assess the current state of work and discuss possible steps toward completion.

The visit formed part of efforts by Government and the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to ensure the completion of critical infrastructure projects within the metropolis for the benefit of residents and traders.

During the tour, the team also visited traders at the temporary new market and assured them of government’s commitment and willingness to complete the Takoradi Market Circle project in due time. I acknowledged the patience and cooperation of the traders despite the challenges they continue to face as a result of the delay in completing the project.

I reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the project is completed to boost trading activities and improve economic development within the metropolis.

I received representatives from the African Development Bank and investors from Denmark ahead of discussions and visits to proposed developmental project sites submitted by the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly for possible investment and support.

We began the tour with a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister, Hon Joseph Nelson after which we visited key sites proposed for possible investment. These included major drainage systems within the metropolis, the landfill site at Sofokrom, the Sekondi Market, and the Takoradi Central area redevelopment

We are hopeful that this visit will yield positive outcomes soon for the benefit, growth, and development of our beloved metropolis.

The Assembly has commenced the evacuation of a long-standing refuse dump site at Kansawrodo as part of efforts to enhance environmental safety and protect public health in the area.

We will replicate this initiative by clearing similar refuse sites across the metropolis in the coming weeks, as part of a broader strategy to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents.
