OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF INTENT
HON. MRS. SEYRAM BETTY KROSBI MENSAH,
ASPIRING NATIONAL WOMEN’S ORGANISER,
NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC).
I am grateful to Almighty God for His unfailing grace, wisdom, and guidance, and with profound appreciation to my family, mentors, friends, and the countless members of our great National Democratic Congress whose encouragement and confidence have inspired this journey, I come before you today with humility and a deep sense of responsibility.
Over the past months, I have travelled the length and breadth of our beloved country, engaging in extensive consultations with branch, constituency, and regional executives, women organisers, and grassroots members I have listened attentively to your concerns, aspirations, and expectations.
These conversations have strengthened my conviction that the time has come for renewed leadership rooted in unity, inclusiveness, service, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of our great party.
It is, therefore, with humility, confidence, and unshakable resolve that I, Hon. Mrs.Seyram Betty Krosbi Mensah officially declare my intention to contest for the position of National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress.
THE VOICE OF OUR WOMEN
Throughout my consultations, one message stood out clearly: our women desire a stronger voice, greater inclusion, sustained empowerment, improved organisational support, and purposeful leadership that extends beyond election seasons.
They want a Women’s Wing that remains vibrant, active, influential, and impactful throughout the political cycle.
MY COMMITMENT AND VISION
Today, I respond to that collective call. I present myself not because I seek a title but because I seek an opportunity to serve.
My vision is to reposition the Women’s Wing into one of the most dynamic, strategic, proactive, and influential structures within our great party.
Together, we will build a Women’s Wing that empowers, inspires, mobilises, mentors, and prepares women to become effective political leaders, community builders, and agents of national development.
I come into this contest with practical experience, tested leadership, proven competence, and unwavering commitment to the National Democratic Congress.
POLITICAL AND LEGISLATIVE EXPERIENCE
I had the privilege to serve the good people of Afram Plains North as a two-term Member of Parliament from 2017 to 2025. During my tenure, I served as Deputy Ranking Member on the Committee on Gender, Children and Social Protection. Under my leadership, the long-standing Affirmative Action Bill was passed into law in 2024.
I also served as vice president of the Young Parliamentarians Forum and as a member of both the Health Committee and the Works and Housing Committee of Parliament. These responsibilities strengthened my understanding of governance, policy formulation, legislative leadership, and national development.
RECENT PUBLIC SERVICE
My dedication to public service continued in my most recent role as National Coordinator for Recreation and Wellness, a position I resigned from last month in compliance with our party’s directive requiring political appointees to step down at least six months before elections. In that role, I championed youth development, promoted healthy lifestyles, and spearheaded community empowerment initiatives across Ghana.
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION
I hold a Master of Arts in Development Communication from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Zenith University College, a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Koforidua Polytechnic, and an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters in recognition of my exceptional contributions to youth empowerment, women's development and community transformation.
These qualifications have equipped me with leadership, communication, management, and strategic planning skills required to effectively lead a national organisation.
EARLY POLITICAL JOURNEY & GRASSROOTS
My journey within the National Democratic Congress began long before I entered Parliament. As the first TEIN Secretary of Koforidua Polytechnic and later Women’s Commissioner, I learned the values of grassroots mobilisation, sacrifice, loyalty, and servant leadership.
I later founded the Ladies Alliance for Victory (LAV 2012), which evolved into the widely recognised Women for Mahama movement that contributed significantly to grassroots mobilisation during the 2012 general elections
These experiences have reinforced my belief that the strength of our party lies in strong grassroots structures and empowered women.
One concern echoed consistently throughout my nationwide consultations is that the Women’s Wing has become highly active during election periods but less engaged between elections. This must change.
The Women’s Wing must become a permanent engine for mobilisation, leadership development, political education, community engagement, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and policy influence throughout the entire electoral cycle.
MY TRANSFORMATION AGENDA FOR THE WOMEN'S WING
As a National Women’s Organiser, I will champion practical and impactful programmes that directly benefit our women at every level of the party.
These will include A National Women’s Wing Secretariat to train the next generation of female political leaders; a Constituency Women’s Welfare Fund to strengthen support systems; a Digital Mobilisation Programme to modernise communication and grassroots engagement; and a Women’s Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, and Economic Empowerment Initiative to promote financial independence and economic opportunity.
MY COMMITMENT
Together, we will create opportunities for women to realise their full leadership potential and strengthen our party structures. I firmly believe that when women are empowered, our party becomes stronger.
I therefore humbly seek the support, prayers, encouragement, and confidence of every delegate, branch executive, constituency executive, regional executive, women organiser, youth activist, and loyal member of our great National Democratic Congress.
This campaign is bigger than one individual.
It is about renewing hope, strengthening our structures, empowering our women, and building a united, innovative, disciplined, and formidable Women’s Wing capable of delivering victory in the 2028 general elections and beyond.
Fellow comrades, I proudly represent both the seasoned generation that has laid the foundation of our great party and the vibrant new generation that carries our future. Together, we are stronger, and together, we will build a Women's Wing that is united, empowered, and ready to deliver victory for our great party.
Together, let us write a new chapter in the history of our great party.
May Almighty God bless our Women’s Wing.
May Almighty God bless the National Democratic Congress.
May Almighty God bless our beloved country, Ghana 🇬🇭.
Signed.
Hon. Mrs. Seyram Betty Krosbi Mensah
Aspiring National Women’s Organiser, NDC.
