Green Ghana Day

The Bono East Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with the Forestry Commission, purposefully commemorated the GGD at Bono-Manso, Nipahiamoa Natural Poll Fall in the Nkoranza North district on Friday, June 9, 2023.

The highly patronised program saw the presence of the president of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, who is the paramount chief of the Yeji Traditional Area as well as chiefs from the Nkoranza Traditional Council and the various security commands in the region all showing responsibility in protecting the ecology of the land.

The Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan called on all to continue to embrace the Green Ghana project to protect the forest belt and save it from desertification.

He observed that even though there is a lot of ecotourism potential in the region and there was a need to protect the environment and GGD at Bono Manso was aimed at that and also opened up the site to the world.

The cascading water falls into a natural rectangular rocky reservoir temporarily and sinks through the rocks making it a beautiful natural swim pool.

In all over 150,000 seedlings of assorted trees have been distributed across the region for planting.

Other dignitaries who also planted at the Bono Manso were MCE for Techiman, Mr Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, DCE and MP for Nkoranza North, Mr Peter K. Osei Fosu and Mr Joseph Mensah respectively.

Mr Dickson Adjei-Sakyi, the Bono East Regional Forestry manager together with his deputy, Rev. Jonathan Obour Wiredu and the director of the Resource Management sSupport Centre, Forestry Commission, Kumasi supervised the program.

This week as part of the Out-Of-Office engagements of the Regional Minister, he toured some tourist sites of the region with the Regional Tourism Director, Joseph Appiagyei to take assessment on the status of the region’s tourism potentials and how it can be developed with the right investments.
They paid a courtesy call on Nana Manso of the Nkoranza Traditional Council and was greeted with excitement. The engagement with Nananom brought the Regional Minister good counsel and blessings on his adventure.
Their first stop was at the sacred rest of the “Ayadasu” (the sacred pan) which traces its roots from the 13th century. The mystery surrounding it was characterised by many wonders as narrated by the people.
after, they visited the “Yaayaa Falls” also in Bono Manso to see a wonder endowed by nature.
At Kunsu where their exploit ended, the Regional Minister witnessed another breathtaking fall. This new fall is in three stages; the first fall, the middle (higher than the first) and the third.
He was really amazed by these must-see sites.
We wish to call on all who have interest in helping the region and to complement government efforts to facelift these sites to come.

On Thursday, 21st July, 2022 as part of the routine field visits of the Bono East Regional Minister, he inspected some projects under construction by the Government under the Regional Coordinating Council at the various Assemblies.
In Techiman, he inspected a 2-storey High Court Building, another 3-Storey Regional Coordinating Council Office Complex and bungalows (completed).
Both office buildings are expected to be completed by September.
At Kintampo, he was impressed about the levels of work done on a 2-Storey Regional Health Directorate with 2 bungalows already completed and a 2-Storey Business Resource Center which is ready for commissioning.
However, at Nkoranza, 55% work done on the Regional Education Office has stalled because the contractor has not been able to return to site upon several notices.
He has directed that termination of the project be completed immediately and subsequently be repackaged and re-awarded to another so that the building can serve its purpose as soon as possible.
These projects will significantly improve upon the regional architecture, improve essential service delivery and better the conditions of the good people of Bono East Region.
