Green Ghana Day
The Bono East Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with the Forestry Commission, purposefully commemorated the GGD at Bono-Manso, Nipahiamoa Natural Poll Fall in the Nkoranza North district on Friday, June 9, 2023.
The highly patronised program saw the presence of the president of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, who is the paramount chief of the Yeji Traditional Area as well as chiefs from the Nkoranza Traditional Council and the various security commands in the region all showing responsibility in protecting the ecology of the land.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan called on all to continue to embrace the Green Ghana project to protect the forest belt and save it from desertification.
He observed that even though there is a lot of ecotourism potential in the region and there was a need to protect the environment and GGD at Bono Manso was aimed at that and also opened up the site to the world.
The cascading water falls into a natural rectangular rocky reservoir temporarily and sinks through the rocks making it a beautiful natural swim pool.
In all over 150,000 seedlings of assorted trees have been distributed across the region for planting.
Other dignitaries who also planted at the Bono Manso were MCE for Techiman, Mr Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, DCE and MP for Nkoranza North, Mr Peter K. Osei Fosu and Mr Joseph Mensah respectively.
Mr Dickson Adjei-Sakyi, the Bono East Regional Forestry manager together with his deputy, Rev. Jonathan Obour Wiredu and the director of the Resource Management sSupport Centre, Forestry Commission, Kumasi supervised the program.
