A stronger power network is coming to the Volta Region.

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, led by Honorable Dr. John Jinapor, GRIDCo and ECG have handed over sites for a new 161/35kV substation at Ho and the upgrade of the 45km Asiekpe–Ho transmission line.

The GHS598 million project is expected to improve voltage levels, strengthen power supply and create capacity for growing demand across the Eastern Corridor.

Work is expected to be completed within 6–12 months.

GRIDCo Commences Phase II of the Right-of-Way (RoW) Clearance Campaign

After a week-long social media campaign, GRIDCo rolled out its Community Engagement phase of the RoW Clearance Campaign. The aim is to encourage encroachers to voluntarily vacate the transmission line RoW. It follows an ultimatum issued by the Honorable Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Jinapor.
People who refuse to leave, may face forceful removal by the September 12 deadline.

With the support of the Information Services Deparment (ISD), Ghana Police and the Corporate Communications Section, a team from the Land Management Department (LMD), comprising of RoW staff, RoW Task Force and the Security Section, sensitised all, explaining the reasons and benefits of leaving GRIDCo's RoW clear.

The exercise which covered from Ashaiman, through to Afienya will continue for the next two weeks.
