*WHAT HAPPENED TO THE NPP MANTRA OF "YEAR OF ROADS"?*

On our usual political monitoring of the limited voters registration exercise that took us to Issa in the DBI Constituency, Tumu in the Sissala East and Gwollu in the Sissala West, our vehicle bumped into two cargo trucks loaded with maize that got stuck on the Hain Jeffisi stretch of the Wa Tumu road.
According to the trucks' drivers, anytime it rains, the road usually becomes muddy and it's always difficult for motorists and other heavy vehicular trucks to ply the road.
In 2015/16 fiscal year, H.E John Dramani Mahama awarded the entire stretch of the road to three (3) different contractors namely: P&W Ghanem Company Ltd, Mawumes Construction Company Ltd and GeeenHouse Development Group. Work was going on smoothly until the NDC and H.E John Dramani Mahama lost power to the NPP and Nana Akufo Addo, who came in and asked the contractors to suspend works while they do value for money audit. As we speak, the contractor (GreenHouse Development Group) who was working on the Hain Jeffisi portion of the road has completely abandoned the site partly due to none payment, leaving commuters to their faith.
Due to the bad nature of the road, drivers took the opportunity to charge passengers very outrageous lorry fares.
Sissala East is one of the major food buskets in the region and even beyond. The people of the Sissala East are Ghanaians and they also pay taxes, hence they deserve a better treatment.
We therefore call on Nana Akufo Addo and Dr Mahamud Bawumia to wake up from their slumber and honor their promises made to the Tumu Kuoro by fixing the road. It is unacceptable for the people of the Sissala East and West to be treated that way.
