Open Letter to the NPP Leadership and Members
Dear esteemed leaders and Members of the Great Elephant π Family! The future of our beloved party is in limbo in the Yendi Constituency.
(1) I hope this letter finds you in the best of spirit and body.
(2) As we reflect on our painful and disappointing scenes that occurred on DMB's thank you tour in Yendi is re-emphasizing that need for united party rather than a divided front. We need to have a sober reflections to allow cooler heads to prevailed, this is non negotiable. from the debacle of 2024 election, it's clear that we must learn from our mistakes and chart a new course. The ongoing attacks and rebuttals from opposing campa underscore the need for introspection and reunification.
(3) We knew our house was divided, and nobody had the courage to address the elephant in the room. Leadership failures, particularly in internal reorganization and reconciliation, contributed significantly to our defeat, which has manifested during the tour in the presence of no less a person than the former Vice president and flagbearer of our party in the 2024 general elections.
(4) The presence and closeness of Alhaji Masahudu with the former MP and candidate for 2024 parliamentary election was a factor in this disturbing scene at the thank you tour of DMB. The party executives open support and bias for candidates deemed outside the camp of the former MP deepened divisions and reinforced perceptions of agenda-setting in the recent tour of the party's 2024 candidate.
(5) Individual character, greed, ego, and an unwillingness to compromise also played a role. Followers prioritized protecting their interests over collective progress, and we failed to reach out to disgruntled loyalists who we know we cannot do without since democracy is a dictatorship of numerical strength.
(6) The worst part was the open attacks on those disgruntled patriots who mattered most to our collective success.
(7) Recent comments from some constituency officers, which seemed to confirm the candidacy of the former MP, Hon. Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama set the tone for what has happened today, and it calls for serious concerns. Haven't we learned anything from our defeat? Shouldn't our elders advise leadership to avoid such utterances or posture?
(8) We have to be frank with each other. Imposition of Parliamentary candidate on us in Yendi fuel by political machinations by some Constituency, Regional and National Executives contributed to the divisions, disunity, and our eventual loss of Yendi seat.
(9) The impunity with which party executives and associates of the former MP and those benefitting from the injustices broke rules to carry through a defined agenda undid us regrettably.
(10) Let's learn our lessons never to repeat mistakes of the immediate past. Let's be guided by Professor Mike Oquaye's Committee Report and reorganize the party without bias or vindictiveness, restrategise sincerely, and build a happy NPP Family in Yendi and beyond.
(11) It's time to put aside personal interests and work towards unity and cooperation. Let's bring back the lost love and patriotism for the party.
Sincerely,
Sgd.
