USET Receives Second Batch of 18 Nigerian Technical Aid Corps Volunteers

The University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET) has officially received the second batch of 18 Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) volunteers to support teaching, research, and institutional development at the university.

The handover ceremony marks a continuation of the longstanding partnership between The Gambia and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, aimed at strengthening capacity building and knowledge exchange in higher education.

The newly deployed NTAC volunteers, with expertise in various academic and technical fields, will contribute to USET’s efforts in advancing science, engineering, technology, and innovation education.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) continues to support initiatives that enhance academic excellence, promote international collaboration, and build the human capital needed to drive national development.

The deployment of the second batch of NTACs reflects the strong cooperation between both countries and their shared commitment to strengthening higher education and technical skills development.

The Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Professor Pierre Gomez, today received the President of the Gabonese Republic, His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, at the University of The Gambia’s Faraba Campus.

The visit formed part of President Nguema’s official programme in The Gambia and highlighted the country’s continued investment in higher education, research, science, and innovation.

During the tour, President Nguema visited the Dr. Adesina School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the Alieu Badara Joof Library, where he was briefed on key academic programmes, research initiatives, and the University’s contribution to national development.

The visit reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation between The Gambia and Gabon through higher education, research, science, innovation, and knowledge exchange.

The Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Professor Pierre Gomez, joined His Excellency President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of the Gabonese Republic and the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, during a visit to the National Food and Drug Quality Control Laboratory in Brusubi.

The visit formed part of President Oligui Nguema’s official programme in The Gambia and provided an opportunity to showcase the country’s growing scientific and laboratory capabilities in quality assurance, food safety, and public health.
