Suleima Lodge grew out of our decades experience living in West Africa. Inspired by Chief's Palaces of the Sahel and architecture of the 14th Century Kingdom of Mali of which Gambia was a part, we are an eco boutique 7 suite lodge immersed in 3.5 acres of forest and gardens. 5 minutes walk from the undeveloped hassle free beach. While swimming in our 33 metre pool you might see Pelicans or an Ospr

ey flying overhead, or a Pygmy Kingfisher darting in for a quick drink - we've seen 162 bird species locally. Hammocks among the trees in multiple areas give you space to read or relax - you might see visiting monkeys with their babies or a rare bird. We love good and diverse food and only serve what's fresh and as local as possible. The heart of the lodge is the fire pit where sitting in a wisdom chair enjoying a tipple from the diversely stocked bar, many a story has been told while watching the dancing flames under a star lit sky. If the ocean or river calls, there are excellent fishing and boat trips and the chance to see a pod of dolphins. We can advise on day trips and excursions upcountry to help you discover the hidden Gambia - its amazing nature, people, cultures and history.
