✏️📄 We are pleased to share the letter of appreciation from the Mayor of Ikaria to the Pan-Ikarian Brotherhood of Montreal “Ikaros”, expressing his gratitude for the significant donation of equipment to the Care Home for the Elderly.
''Με ιδιαίτερη συγκίνηση και βαθιά ευγνωμοσύνη, ο Δήμος Ικαρίας και η
διοικούσα επιτροπή της Μονάδας Φροντίδας Ηλικιωμένων (Γηροκομείο
Ικαρίας) εκφράζουν τις θερμότερες ευχαριστίες τους προς την Πανικαριακή
Αδελφότητα Μόντρεαλ Καναδά ο «Ίκαρος» για την ευγενική και πολύτιμη
δωρεά επαγγελματικού εξοπλισμού.
Συγκεκριμένα, ο Σύλλογος προσέφερε για τις ανάγκες της δομής μας:
Έναν επαγγελματικό φούρνο-κουζίνα
Ένα επαγγελματικό πλυντήριο πιάτων
Ένα επαγγελματικό πλυντήριο-στεγνωτήριο ρούχων (διπλής λειτουργίας)
Το συνολικό ύψος της δωρεάς ανέρχεται σε 26.760 €, ένα εξαιρετικά
σημαντικό ποσό που καλύπτει και πάγιες λειτουργικές ανάγκες του
Γηροκομείου μας.
Η Πανικαριακή Αδελφότητα Μόντρεαλ Καναδά ο «Ίκαρος», με έτος ίδρυσης
το 1973,από τους πρώτους μετανάστες του νησιού μας που έφτασαν εκεί την
δεκαετία του ’50, και ενεργό μέλος της Πανικαριακής Αδελφότητας Αμερικής,
αποδεικνύει έμπρακτα ότι η καρδιά της ομογένειας χτυπά πάντα στην πατρίδα.
Παρά το γεγονός ότι πολλοί συμπατριώτες μας έχουν επιστρέψει και ο
Σύλλογος αριθμεί πλέον λιγότερα μέλη, η ευαισθησία, η αγάπη και το
ενδιαφέρον τους για την Ικαρία παραμένουν αναλλοίωτα και ισχυρά.
Θέλουμε να ευχαριστήσουμε προσωπικά το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο του
Συλλόγου: την Πρόεδρο κ. Ειρήνη Αντύπα, την Αντιπρόεδρο κ. Χρύσα
Ευστρατουδάκη και την Ταμία κ. Λαμπρινή Καρρά, για τον συντονισμό και
την άμεση υλοποίηση αυτής της προσφοράς, όπως εγκρίθηκε από τη Γενική
Συνέλευση της Αδελφότητας, η οποία αναβαθμίζει σημαντικά την καθημερινή
λειτουργία του Γηροκομείου μας και την ποιότητα ζωής των φιλοξενούμενων
ηλικιωμένων.
Η πρωτοβουλία της Αδελφότητας αναδεικνύει τη δύναμη της συνεργασίας και
του κοινού οράματος για την αναβάθμιση των κοινωνικών μας δομών. Η
διαρκής στήριξη του δικτύου των Ικαριακών συλλόγων ανά τον κόσμο αποτελεί διαχρονικό στυλοβάτη για το νησί μας, ενισχύοντας τις προσπάθειες της Τοπικής Αυτοδιοίκησης για την κάλυψη των αυξανόμενων αναγκών και τη
μελλοντική επέκτασή της Μονάδας.
Η προσφορά σας αποτελεί φωτεινό παράδειγμα κοινωνικής αλληλεγγύης και
μας γεμίζει δύναμη να συνεχίσουμε το έργο μας.

''With deep emotion and heartfelt gratitude, the Municipality of Ikaria and the Governing Committee of the Elderly Care Facility (Ikaria Senior Home) extend their warmest thanks to the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood of Montreal, Canada, “Ikaros,” for its generous and invaluable donation of professional-grade equipment.
Specifically, the Brotherhood has generously provided the following equipment for the needs of our facility:
A commercial-grade range oven
A commercial-grade dishwasher
A commercial-grade washer-dryer
The total value of the donation amounts to €26,760, representing an exceptionally significant contribution that addresses both the immediate and ongoing operational needs of our Elderly Care Facility.
Founded in 1973 by the first Icarian immigrants who arrived in Montreal in the early 1950s, and as an active member of the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood of America, the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood of Montreal, Canada, “Ikaros,” continues to demonstrate in the most meaningful way that the heart of our diaspora always beats for the homeland. Although many of our compatriots have returned to
Greece over the years and the Brotherhood now has fewer members, their sensitivity, love, and enduring interest in Ikaria remain unchanged and as strong as ever.
We would like to extend our special thanks to the Brotherhood’s Board of Directors: President Ms.Irini Antypas, Vice-President Ms. Chrysa Efstratoudaki, and Treasurer Ms. Lambrini Karra, for coordinating and promptly bringing this generous contribution to fruition. The donation was agreed upon and passed by the General Assembly. This donation significantly enhances the day-to-day operation of our Elderly Care Facility and contributes substantially to improving the quality of life of our elderly residents.
The Brotherhood’s initiative highlights the power of collaboration and a shared vision for improving our social-care facilities. The continued support of the network of Icarian associations around the world remains a timeless pillar of strength for our island, reinforcing the efforts of local government to address growing needs and support the future expansion of the Facility.
Your generous contribution is a shining example of social solidarity and fills us with renewed strength and determination to continue our work.
