✨ Last week, HM Ambassador Matthew Lodge hosted the celebration at Athens City Events in . ✨
The reception marked the official birthday of HMTK and celebrated His long service to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. It was also a wonderful opportunity to showcase the UK’s cultural industries and the power of British storytelling across theatre, film, dance and music.
We see as art that connects us – created locally, understood globally, and enriched through exchange.
We brought this to life through:
🔸 a speech by Oscar®- and BAFTA®-winning producer Gareth Ellis-Unwin (The King’s Speech)
🔸 a staged reading of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’ by the 🇬🇧 Ambassador & renowned 🇬🇷 actor (in collaboration with Λυκόφως - Lykofos)
✨ Our highlight? Inviting guests to take the stage and perform a line from British theatre or film! 🎭
Special thanks to classical guitarist Dimitris Soukaras for the beautiful musical programme and sopranos Antonia Kokkinou & Constantina Kokkinou for singing the 🇬🇷 and 🇬🇧 National Anthems.
