❗Belangrijke mededeling voor Nederlanders in Le**os ❗

Heb je een nieuw paspoort of ID-kaart nodig?

Op 5 & 6 september aanstaande komen we naar Le**os met ons mobiele aanvraagstation.

Opgelet: er is een beperkt aantal afspraken beschikbaar!

Afspraak maken
• Stuur een e-mail naar: [email protected]
• Gebruik als onderwerp voor uw e-mail: 'Pop-up Le**os'.
• Vermeld in uw e-mail de volledige namen en contactgegevens van de personen waarvoor u een afspraak wilt maken en de reden waarom u in aanmerking zou komen voor een afspraak.
• U krijgt uiterlijk een week vóór de afspraak van de ambassade per e-mail meer informatie over de exacte locatie en welke documenten u mee moet brengen naar de afspraak.

Wie komen in aanmerking voor een afspraak
U kunt zich aanmelden voor een afspraak als u voldoet aan een van de volgende voorwaarden:
• U bent ouder dan 70 jaar.
• U bent slecht ter been.
• De aanvraag is voor een kind tot en met 4 jaar oud.
• Uw reisdocument verloopt binnen 6 maanden.

Toeslag
Voor een aanvraag op deze locatie betaalt u per paspoort of ID-kaart € 26,85 extra.

Bosbranden in Griekenland: bereid je reis goed voor

Door de combinatie van grote droogte, hoge temperaturen en harde wind is de kans op natuur- en bosbranden in veel gebieden in Griekenland groot. De branden kunnen zich snel verspreiden. Bereid je reis goed voor en neem maatregelen om brand te voorkomen.


Voor vertrek:

- Check of er verhoogd risico is op bosbranden in jouw regio en lees het reisadvies voor Griekenland: https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/reisadvies/griekenland
- Controleer in je reis- of zorgverzekering de dekking bij natuurrampen.

Mocht je toch met een natuurbrand te maken krijgen:

- Volg altijd de instructies van lokale autoriteiten en houd de nieuwsberichten in de gaten.
- Neem rook zeer serieus. Zie je rook of vuur langs je route? Draai om als dat veilig kan.
- Kun je niet keren? Rijd rustig naar een open en indien mogelijk laaggelegen gebied.
- Bel bij acuut gevaar altijd 112.

Yesterday, Ambassador Barbara van Hellemond visited Creative Hands in Lavrio, where she met founder Cecilia Sakatira and some of the refugee women who work there. 🌏🧑🏽‍🔧

Through weaving and creating handmade products that can be purchased locally and online, the women develop practical skills and gain confidence in their own abilities. Creative Hands supports them in becoming more independent and taking steps towards their integration into Greek society. 🪡🧵

It was great to see their work up close and hear directly from the women about their experiences. A big thank you to Cecilia and everyone at Creative Hands for the warm welcome! 🇳🇱🤝🇬🇷

Successful Integration Starts with Work 🙌🏻💼

In honour of World Refugee Week, the Embassy brought refugee stories to life, together with Movement On The Ground, a NGO supporting young refugees on their journey toward independence and integration in Greek society. Through the power of photography, the residents of their housing project shared glimpses of their daily lives in Athens. 📸🖼️

We also launched Refugees Connected together: a digital platform connecting refugees with legal status to employers facing labor shortages. 🤝✨

When people are given the opportunity to work, contribute and participate in society, everyone benefits: refugees gain independence and purpose, while employers and local communities gain valuable skills and talent. 🌍💼

Today, on World Refugee Day 🌍🕊️, we mark the 75th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention. The Netherlands remains committed to protecting those in need of international protection, while promoting an orderly, fair and sustainable migration system. Effective protection, clear procedures and well-managed migration go hand in hand.

Yesterday, Ambassador Barbara van Hellemond met with Secretary General Nadia Papakosta of the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum 🤝 to discuss our ongoing cooperation. The Netherlands and Greece 🇳🇱🇬🇷 will continue to work on practical solutions across the migration chain, including support for unaccompanied minors, better integration opportunities for recognised refugees, and fostering returns, including through innovative solutions.

The end of a journey shaped by Max van der Stoel’s legacy ✨

This week, Konstantinos met with the Ambassador to reflect on his study trip to the Netherlands. While the Embassy followed his journey through his beautiful vlogs, it was valuable to dive deeper into the many remarkable meetings he experienced. 🇬🇷🇳🇱

As Konstantinos shared:

“What began as an essay on Max van der Stoel’s legacy became a journey through the many values he championed: human rights, democracy, dialogue and international cooperation.

From volunteering in Amsterdam and visiting Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder to discussions at the OSCE and meetings with diplomats and civil society representatives, each encounter offered a different perspective on these ideals in practice.

Yet what stayed with me most was the warmth and openness of the people I met. Despite being far from home, I often felt surprisingly close to it. 🧡💙

A reminder that some values transcend geography, and that the strongest bridges between countries are ultimately built by people.” 🌏🙌🏻
