Since which time it has grown from 10-15% restored or in process to over 35%+ and that progress continues to this day. The village remains under archaeological protection and is 99% as it would have been c. 1650, albeit nature has flourished and created a living 'Chelsea Flower Show'. Stroll through the cobbled streets, admire the characteristic churches, explore the surrounding countryside on long or short walks and breathe in the super fresh & healthy air, eat at the tavernas - buy the local honey.

Old Perithia
Get an idea of what Corfu would have been like in days gone by in this ancient village (some say it’s the island’s oldest) that dates back to medieval times. Straddled across the forest-furred slopes of mighty Mount Pantokrator, the village is now a protected heritage site and was more or less abandoned until Anglo-Dutch couple Mark and Saskia fell in love with it a few decades ago. They started renovating the old houses to create an atmospheric cluster of restaurants and accommodation. Old Perithia’s five tavernas and kafeneions are among the best places to eat in Corfu for good reasons:: the home-cooked fare is delicious and prices tend to be lower than tourist traps down on the coast.
