Όμορφο σκηνικό από εμβληματικά πουλιά της λίμνης Κερκίνης που μοιράζονται τον ίδιο μαγικό τόπο και μας θυμίζουν την ομορφιά της άγριας ζωής! Ο Μπούφος και ο Θαλασσαετός κυρίαρχοι νύχτα και ημέρα, οι Ροδοπελεκάνοι που δίνουν και άλλο χρώμα στο κίτρινο τοπίο (από τα πολλά κίτρινα νούφαρα) της λίμνης, η μικρή Κουκουβάγια με τα μεγάλα της μάτια και οι Σταχτόχηνες που πλέον κάνουν πτήση μαζί με τα μκρά τους!

A beautiful scene of emblematic birds of Lake Kerkini that share the same magical place and remind us of the beauty of wildlife! The Eagle Owl and the White-tailed Eagle dominate night and day, the White pelicans that add another color to the yellow landscape (from the many yellow water lilies) of the lake, the Little Owl with its big eyes and the Greylag Geese that are now taking flight with their chicks!

Η Κερκίνη είναι κίτρινη αφού τα (κίτρινα) νούφαρα έχουν καλύψει τεράστιες εκτάσεις της επιφάνειας της λίμνης, οι Ροδοπελεκάνοι ψαρεύουν ανάμεσα σε αυτά ενώ κάπου κοντά πάνω σε κλαδί ένα μικρό αρπακτικό το Σαΐνι ξεκουράζεται μετά από επιτυχημένο κυνήγι, δίπλα στα ρηχά μια νεαρή Αγκαθοκαλημάνα!

Lake Kerkini is yellow because the (yellow) water lilies have covered vast areas of the lake’s surface, the White pelicans are fishing among them, while nearby, perched on a branch, a small bird of prey—the Levant Sparrowhawk—is resting after a successful hunt, and near the shallows, a young Spur-winged lapwing!

Καλοκαίρι στην λίμνη Κερκίνη και.....η στιγμή της κορύφωσης της αναπαραγωγής των Σκουφοβουτηχταριών είναι ένα μόνο από τα διάφορα στάδια της διαδικασίας ζευγαρώματος. Ο Γελαδάρης χρησιμοποιεί ως μεταφορικό μέσο τον νεροβούβαλο για να ψαρέψει στα βαθύτερα σημεία της λίμνης, μεγάλη ομάδα από Ροδοπελεκάνους στα υγρολίβαδα και ακόμη ένα Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι που έχει σημάνει συναγερμό αφού πολύ κοντά περνάει ένας Κρυπτοτσικνιάς!

Summer in Lake Kerkini and.....the peak of the Great Crested Grebe’s breeding season is just one of the various stages of the mating process. The Cattle egret uses the water buffalo as a means of transportation to fish in the deeper parts of the lake, a large flock of White pelicans in the wetlands, and yet another Great Crested Grebe that has sounded the alarm as a Squacco heron passes very close by!

Ο φυσικός κόσμος της λίμνης Κερκίνης (φυσικά και όλων των περιοχών με φυσικό πλούτο) είναι "πηγή" γνώσης! Η φωτογραφία άγριας φύσης όταν συνδυάζεται με υπομονή και σεβασμό αναδυκνύει κάποιες από αυτές τις γνώσεις! Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι μέσα στο νερό, Πορφυροτσικνιάς και Χαλκόκοτες στα υγρολίβαδα, Κραυγαετός στο έδαφος και ένας Μαύρος δρυοκολάπτης σε κλαδί!

The natural world of Lake Kerkini (and of course all areas with natural wealth) is a "source" of knowledge! Wildlife photography, when combined with patience and respect, highlights some of this knowledge! Great Crested Grebe in the water, Purple Heron and Glossy ibis in the wetlands, Lesser Spotted Eagle on the ground and a Black Woodpecker on a branch!

Λίγες φωτογραφίες από την καλοκαιρινή περίοδο από την περιοχή της λίμνης Κερκίνης! Μπούφοι (ειδικά ο ένας φαίνονται μόνο τα μάτια του), Πορφυροτσικνιάς σε πτήση, Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι που μόλις έχει αναδυθεί, Αγκαθοκαλημάνα σε στάση επιφυλακής και ένα ζευγάρι Θαλασσαετών!

A few photos from the summer season from the Lake Kerkini area! Owls (especially one with only its eyes visible), Purple Heron in flight, a Great crested grebe that has just emerged, a Spur-winged lapwing on alert and a pair of White-tailed Eagles!

Ο Θαλασσαετός (Haliaeetus albicilla) αποτελεί έναν από τους πιο επιβλητικούς και σπάνιους κυρίαρχους των ελληνικών ουρανών και υγροτόπων, δεν είναι απλά ένα ακόμη πουλί, είναι ένας θρύλος και ένα σύμβολο της άγριας φύσης. Η προστασία των βιοτόπων του και ο σεβασμός στην ησυχία του είναι το ελάχιστο χρέος μας, ώστε οι επόμενες γενιές να συνεχίσουν να κοιτούν ψηλά και να αντικρίζουν το δέος που προκαλεί το πέταγμά του.
Στο Εθνικό Πάρκο Λίμνης Κερκίνης υπάρχουν δύο ζευγάρια!

The White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) is one of the most majestic and rare rulers of the Greek skies and wetlands, it is not just another bird, but a legend and a symbol of wildlife. Protecting and respecting its habitats will give future generations the opportunity to continue looking up and watching its flight with awe. There are two pairs in Lake Kerkini National Park!

Η λίμνη Κερκίνη είναι ένας πολύ σημαντικός σταθμός ξεκούρασης και τροφοληψίας για διάφορα πουλιά! Έτσι εμφανίστηκε ξαφνικά και ένα Όρνιο το οποίο είχε ταυτότητα (σήμανση στα φτερά) και δορυφορικό πομπό! Τα ενήλικα όρνια είναι μόνιμα (επιδημητικά) και παραμένουν όλο τον χρόνο κοντά στις περιοχές όπου φωλιάζουν. Ωστόσο, τα νεαρά και ανώριμα πουλιά πραγματοποιούν εκπληκτικά ταξίδια! Το πουλί, με προέλευση από την Κρήτη, απελευθερώθηκε από τον κλωβό εγκλιματισμού στον Αράκυνθο (περιοχή Μεσολογγίου) στις 25 Μαΐου, στο πλαίσιο της δράσης ενίσχυσης του ηπειρωτικού πληθυσμού του Όρνιου, η οποία υλοποιείται από το Πρόγραμμα Life IP 4 Natura (https://necca.gov.gr/.../prosta.../life-ip-4-natura-project/), με συντονισμό της Ορνιθολογικής (https://ornithologiki.gr/.../programmata/88-life-ip-4-natura). Το πουλί ακολούθησε ανατολική πορεία στην κεντρική και βόρεια Ελλάδα και αμέσως αργότερα πέρασε και τα σύνορα προς την Βουλγαρία.

Lake Kerkini is a very important resting and feeding station for various birds! So suddenly a Eurasian griffon Vulture appeared that had an ID (wing tag) and a satellite transmitter! Adult vultures are permanent (residential) and remain all year round near the areas where they nest. However, young and immature birds make amazing journeys! The bird, originating from Crete, was released from the acclimatization cage in Arakynthos (Mesolonghi region) on May 25, as part of the action to strengthen the continental population of the Vulture, which is implemented by the Life IP 4 Natura Program (https://necca.gov.gr/.../prosta.../life-ip-4-natura-project/), coordinated by the Ornithological Society (https://ornithologiki.gr/.../programmata/88-life-ip-4-natura). The bird followed an eastern course across central and northern Greece and immediately later crossed the border into Bulgaria.

Σαν μια εγκυκλοπαίδεια φύσης η λίμνη Κερκίνη με φυσικό κάλλος απαράμιλλης ομορφιάς μοιράζει γνώσεις, εικόνες και ήχους απλόχερα που οδηγούν σε μια βιωματική εμπειρία διαχρονική και ανεκτίμητης αξίας! Αγκαθοκαλημάνες που ζευγαρώνουν (τα τελευταία χρόνια αναπαράγονται και αυτά στην λίμνη Κερκίνη), Βραχοτσοπανάκος που επιτηρεί τα μικρά που γεννήθηκαν, Χουλιαρομύτες που απολαμβάνουν τα υγρολίβαδα, Καλαμοκανάς λίγο πριν προσγειωθεί και Οχθοχελίδονα που αναπαράγονται σε αποικίες και χτίζουν φωλιές σκάβοντας σε αμμώδεις όχθες!

Mating Spur-winged lapwing (in recent years, they have also been breeding in Lake Kerkini), a Western rock nuthatch watching over its newly hatched chicks, Spoonbills enjoying the wetlands, a Black-winged stilt just before landing, and Sand martins that breed in colonies and build nests by tunneling into sandbanks!

Στον καλοκαιρινό πια κήπο της λίμνης Κερκίνης η ζωή συνεχίζεται με αμείωτο ενδιαφέρον. Μελισσοφάγος σε λίγο πριν ακουμπήσει στο έδαφος, Μαυροπελαργός σε μικρή κοντινή πτήση, Βουβάλια που τρέχουν στα υγρολίβαδα, οι Μπούφοι που έχουν μεγαλώσει αρκετά και μια Υφάντρα με την φωλιά της που με τόση τέχνη καταφέρνει και πλέκει!

In the now summery garden of Lake Kerkini, life goes on with undiminished interest. A Bee-eater just before it touches the ground, a Black stork on a short flight nearby, Buffaloes running through the wetlands, the juv Eagles owls that have grown quite a bit, and a Penduline tit with its nest, which it weaves with such skill!
