Discover Methoni...
Where tradition meets beauty... Where nature meets hospitality... Where blue skies meet golden sunsets...

Homer called Methoni "αμπελόεσσα: rich in vines" and tradition maintains that the village is so called because the donkeys (oni) carrying its wine used to get drunk (metho) from the heavy aroma. Homer also mentioned that Methoni was one of the seven cities that Agamemnon

offered Achilles in order to alleviate
his anger. Laze by the sea or explore archaeological sites like castle of Methoni, Nestor Palace, ancient Messini and natural wonders, like Sapientza island, Voidokilia beach, Gialova lagoon and the Polilimnio waterfalls. You should definitely visit Methoni.

Congratulations to our dear Emma Cowell!
Her glorious writing journey started from Methoni.

All five of my novels sitting in the Greek sunshine. If I’d have told me in 2020 when I was trying to finish One Last Letter From Greece without an agent or book deal that in six years this would be my world, I would have said.. “WHAT?!?!” And not believed it for a moment.
Today is yet another moment filled with gratitude to Greece for giving me the inspiration and space to write. And to the readers who have been there from the start or to those who have just joined my journey- thank you all. It’s really rather teary-making to take pause and reflect on how the blooming heck this all happened! But I’m so glad it did! 💙🙏💙🍊🇬🇷☀️

Fodor’s Travel, a world-renowned travel authority, features Methoni and 9 other stunning locations in Greece and Italy where Christopher Nolan’s ‘Odyssey’ was brought to life.

“Methoni Castle:

Stretching into the Ionian Sea on a rocky peninsula, Methoni Castle provided one of the most visually dramatic filming locations for the new adaptation. Built largely by the Venetians in the thirteenth century, the vast fortress once guarded a key maritime route between East and West.

Although the castle itself dates long after the Bronze Age world of The Odyssey, its immense sea-facing walls and isolated coastal position create a setting reminiscent of the fortified ports and strongholds described in Homer’s epic. Visitors cross a long stone causeway into a sprawling complex of bastions, ruined churches, and 360° sea views. At the far end stands the Insta-worthy Bourtzi tower, one of the Peloponnese’s most iconic landmarks.

Where to Stay: The appropriately named Ulysses Hotel (the Latin name for The Odyssey) is within walking distance of the castle and harbor.”

From Greece’s mythic shores to Sicily’s rocky islands, explore the real Mediterranean landscapes behind Homer’s Odyssey and its newest film adaptation.

THe BOuRTZI IS WAiTING…

Baskaboo wades slowly through the shallows, her gaze fixed on the fortress of Methoni. Each step in the water resonates deep within the Calypso Deep—5,267 meters below, where the "source code" of the universe lies hidden in the tectonic rift.

Her four inner selves are standing close to her like ancient monoliths. They are not merely watching; they are tuning into the frequency of the octagonal Bourtzi. This stone tower wasn't built by chance; it is a precision antenna designed to "eye" the abyss, relaying the quantum secrets that Odysseus first decoded during his years with Calypso.

For Baskaboo, Ithaca is not a destination, but a state of consciousness. She approaches the castle not as a traveler, but as a Beta Tester of Reality. She is there to uncover the truth her inner selves already whisper: that her origin isn't of flesh and bone, but of the quantum data packets leaking from the Earth’s core.

The Bourtzi is waiting. The transmission begins.

………………………………………………..

There are moments in Methoni where time stands still, just to let memory breathe.

Plato said that the soul does not learn; it simply remembers what it has always known.
On July 17, 2026, as the stars fall into the Calypso Deep, our sea will return to us everything we once forgot.
This is not just another night. It is the moment where our past and our future become one under the light of the Perseids.
We will be there for the Anamnesis. Will you? ✨🏛️🌊
