Leaving behind the source and along the downhill path, we reach after 45 minutes in the chapel of St. In 60 minutes the Agios Nikolas appears ahead, the ruined village of Samaria, located approximately in the middle of the path. Here you will find the wayfarer a small station that is equipped with telephone and first Emergency aid and toilets with running water. Here also can rent whoever wants a

mule for the remainder of the journey. The gorge was abandoned in 1962 when the Greek government declared the area of the canyon national park. The Most of the Samariotes moved to St. Roumeli and elsewhere. Now, most houses are in ruins. Only churches Ossia Mary, Christ and St. George fighting the erosion of the time. The Ossia Maria is the oldest of the three. Built in 1379 by the Venetians then prevailing in Crete and have little economic interest in timber-rich forests of the gorge. The name "Ossia Maria" gradually became "Sia Maria", "Sa Maria" and finally Samaria. At 45 minutes after the gorge is in our path a great source, known in the region as Kefalovrisi or Kefalovriso. Τα μέτωπα ειναι πολλα…οπως βλεπετε και απο τους εργαζομενους τους που εχασαν το ξεκουραση τους σημερα που το φαραγγι ειναι ανοικτο και σε συνεργασια με τοβ Οφυπεκασκηνοθετουν πτωσεις πετρων…Δε θα τους περασει και αν δε τους αρεσει να βρουνε αλλου δουλεια..

📍 Από την Τρίτη 19 Μαΐου η έναρξη λειτουργίας του Εθνικού Δρυμού Σαμαριάς για το 2026.

Ο ΟΦΥΠΕΚΑ ολοκλήρωσε όλες τις απαραίτητες εργασίες συντήρησης στο μονοπάτι, στις υποδομές και στα συστήματα επικοινωνίας, ώστε το φαράγγι της Σαμαριάς να είναι έτοιμο να υποδεχθεί με ασφάλεια τους επισκέπτες του, σε όλο του το μήκος και από τις δύο εισόδους.

🔰 Για δεύτερη συνεχόμενη χρονιά αξιοποιείται εφαρμογή nowcasting για την έγκαιρη προειδοποίηση έντονων καιρικών φαινομένων σε κρίσιμα σημεία του Δρυμού, ενώ από την πρώτη ημέρα λειτουργίας θα υπάρχει διαθέσιμο ιατρικό και νοσηλευτικό προσωπικό.

🟢 Υπενθυμίζεται ότι η επίσκεψη στον Εθνικό Δρυμό προϋποθέτει τον σεβασμό στο φυσικό περιβάλλον και την πιστή τήρηση του Κανονισμού Λειτουργίας. Οι επισκέπτες οφείλουν να ακολουθούν τις οδηγίες του προσωπικού και να λαμβάνουν τα απαραίτητα μέτρα για την προσωπική τους ασφάλεια. Δωρεάν προστατευτικά κράνη διατίθενται στις δύο εισόδους και συνιστάται η χρήση τους.

❗️Η λειτουργία του φαραγγιού μπορεί να αναστέλλεται σε περίπτωση έκτακτων συνθηκών, με γνώμονα την προστασία της ανθρώπινης ζωής.
