A Week to Land.

Skiathos, Greece · August 2026

Two weeks. Two groups. One island that has a way of making everything feel a little more possible.
9 – 16 August
16 – 23 August

This is a week for parents and children who are ready to stop rushing and start arriving. Not just to a place, but to a rhythm. To mornings without an agenda. To meals made together. To children who run barefoot and come back muddy and happy. To the version of yourself that remembers what slow feels like.

Joy'ce Kingdom is our eco learning hub on the island of Skiathos. Solar-powered, off-grid, rooted in nature and community. This is where your week unfolds.

📍 One week in a forested hillside, close to the sea
🏕 Accommodation in tents, held simply and comfortably
🍲 Three vegetarian meals a day, plus fruits, prepared by a professional cook

👧 Children (5–12)
Three guided creative mornings each week
Week 1: working with clay, shaping and decorating the pizza oven
Week 2: creating a collective fresco, inspired by the cultures of the group

Parents have space during these mornings to rest, walk, or work if needed

🌿 Shared experiences
– Two walks through the forest towards beaches
– Daily transport to town or the sea
– A full day on a wooden sailing boat, with swimming and snorkelling
– Open-air cinema night with Mamma Mia
– Pizza gathering around the wood-fired oven
– One free day to follow your own rhythm

Re-Joyce in Resilience 🌿

In October 2025, we gathered in Skiathos with 24 youth workers from six European countries for a 15-day journey into natural building, bioclimatic design, and community-led resilience.

Born in the aftermath of the “Daniel” floods that impacted Skiathos and the Thessaly region, this training became a space for learning by doing, living together, and reimagining how we build, connect, and respond to challenges as communities.

Through hands-on eco-construction, participatory design, and shared daily life, something deeper emerged
a sense of belonging, purpose, and collective strength.

🎥 This video, created by Rakonto, captures pieces of that journey
the people, the process, and the vision we carry forward.

📖 We have also created a booklet to share our methods, learnings, and inspirations… coming soon on the project page.

Month recap : October 2025 held both challenge and beauty for us.

At the heart of the month was Re-Joyce in Resilience, where 25 participants from all over Europe came together, supported by our incredible volunteers and guided by our trainers, Laurane Coornaert from Belgium and Rui Cardoso from Portugal. What began under difficult weather conditions slowly transformed into a powerful experience of resilience, cooperation, and team spirit. Despite the rain and the challenges, the group stood strong, adapting, supporting one another, and truly embodying the essence of the training.

Together, we built. The three new rooms now taking shape were born during those days, crafted with many hands, shared laughter, and collective care. We were also held and supported by our local community and municipality, reminding us once again that this work is never done alone.

As the training came to a close, new volunteers arrived, continuing the momentum. They helped us move forward with insulating floors and walls, and applying the first layers of lime on the outside, slowly bringing the buildings closer to completion.

At the same time, our journey extended beyond the island. Greek participants travelled to Spain for the “Sea Saves Ur Planet” youth exchange with and to France for the “Utopian Thinking” training organised by who also captured many of the moments you see here. All three trainings were co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, supporting these exchanges of learning, ideas, and connection across borders.

Back home, the vision keeps growing. The three rooms are nearly ready to welcome guests, just waiting now for the straw to fully dry. A new scooter has joined our daily rhythm, supporting both our volunteers and Ilektra, who will soon be returning to school.

It has been a month of building through adversity, of travelling and connecting, of roots deepening and branches expanding.

And we feel it clearly, something is growing ! (And we don't mean Ilektra, who celebrated her 45th birthday 😁)

2025 taught us a lot.
It asked us to slow down, to listen more deeply,
to trust the process even when the path was unclear.

It brought hands in the soil,
children’s laughter, shared meals,
circles of learning, unlearning, and remembering.
Moments of challenge, moments of magic
and above all, community 💛

As we step into 2026, our wishes are simple and strong:
✨ more time in nature
✨ more spaces where children thrive by being themselves
✨ deeper collaboration and collective care
✨ learning by doing, growing by sharing
✨ sustainability not as a concept, but as a way of living

May 2026 be a year of rooted dreams, brave hearts,
and gentle revolutions, one small, meaningful action at a time.

Thank you for walking this path with us.
The journey continues 🌍🌿

🍂 September 2025 was intense, challenging, and deeply human. 🍂

🤝 As preparations accelerated for the Youth Workers Training co funded by Erasmus+, volunteers arrived and departed in waves. Our place showed once again that it is not for everyone, yet even the hard moments carried gifts. Strong friendships emerged from misunderstandings, effort, and shared responsibility, reminding us why we keep opening our doors. Along the way, volunteers installed new doors for the showers and updated the dishwashing area, improving daily life in very concrete ways. 🤝

🏡 Family life flowed alongside the work. Yaya and Papou Jos spent precious time with us, playing, helping, and holding space, before passing the torch to Pappou, who arrived just as they left to lend his hands and heart. Pepe came to help prepare the camping spots, and we were also happy to welcome visits from old friends. One participant from the natural building training even joined us early, stepping into the rhythm a week ahead of time. At the same time, the first designs of the rooms we will build began to take shape through long conversations and shared visions with our trainers. 🏡

🌧️ The month ended with a real test. A sudden storm soaked boxes full of books and documents while we were moving them to the new storage room and tore apart the sun protection above the trampoline. The bad weather slowed our preparations and shook our nerves, but not our spirit. Between pizza parties and Mamma Mia nights, we kept laughing, connecting, and remembering why we do this. We know we will make it, and we feel the excitement growing as we get ready to welcome an international team very soon. 🌧️

🌻 August moved gently between worry, connection, and deep community moments. 🌻

🐾 The month opened with searching for little Puppylita and unexpectedly opening new doors with our neighbors. Walks through the magic forest, calling her name, and wave playing at the beach turned strangers into friends. Even as Puppylita stayed missing, the days filled with hikes to the peak, handmade posters, number games, and children finding comfort in play and routine. 🐾

🌊 Goodbyes and arrivals followed one another. Luc left, then Loelia too, after months of shared mornings and teamwork. Their absence was felt immediately. New rhythms formed with Johan, Minecraft conversations, long games, and pizza parties that welcomed neighbors, friends, and children into one big circle. Beach afternoons blended rest, laughter, and slow summer joy. 🌊

🎨 August also brought artists, volunteers, and big inner journeys. Graham arrived and began a vision quest, Anton joined with curiosity and warmth, and plans for the future slowly took shape through late night conversations and paperwork. There were sleepovers, circus shows, language breakthroughs, and moments of pride as Vasilis mastered new sounds and skills like the "δ" sound. 🎨

🤍 The heart of the month was community care. Shared meals, ceremonies, and honest conversations held space for grief, dreams, and transitions. Camille and her family became part of daily life until their emotional farewell at the port, with tears, hugs, and the certainty that some connections do not end, they pause. August closed with full days, open hearts, and quiet excitement as the next ESC chapter found its people.

🌞 July 2025 unfolded with reunions, celebrations, and full summer energy. 🌞
🌿 The month began on the move. After leaving our Cob family, Joyce traveled on her own to Crete for her first rhetoric camp, while Ilektra and Vassilis returned to Skiathos to a land already alive with volunteers old and new. Luc and Loelia were still holding the space, joined by Lila, Irene, Shaila, and Kate with little Archie, who instantly became like a brother to Vassilis. The days were filled with clearing paths, cutting bushes, installing shade over the trampoline, and preparing a new zip line, all leading toward one very important event. A quiet pause came with a violin concert at Evangelistria Monastery, and Pappou arrived just in time for pizza and togetherness. 🌿
🎉 Joy multiplied as Joyce returned and friends arrived one after another. Zoe and Athena came with Diego and Luna Stella, filling the land with music, painting, laughter, and long summer evenings. Then Tata Momo arrived with her family, and the house expanded again with cousins, shared meals, and precious time together. In the middle of it all, Vassilis woke up six years old. After weeks of counting days, his birthday finally arrived, celebrated with pizza, friends, and so much love. It was one of those days that stays with you. 🎉
🌊 The second half of the month moved in waves of arrivals and goodbyes. Pappou left after a full week together, Kate and Archie continued their journey, and friends came and went, sometimes staying an extra day by happy accident. The land kept transforming with new steps, reinforced platforms, lights installed, walls rising, wood being cut, and the group culture board taking shape. Between work sessions there were beach days and beach nights, late swims, shared games, and long conversations under the stars. Time was also carved out for Tata Momo and her family, with Vassilis declaring them all his favorite cousins. 🌊
✨ July closed with sun on skin, sand between toes, cousins everywhere, and a deep sense of gratitude. Life felt full, busy, imperfect, and beautiful, exactly as summer should. ✨

🌿 June 2025 was a month of healing, learning, and deep connections. 🌿

🤍 It began slowly as Ilektra was forced to rest with an injured knee while the rest of the team carried on, building, playing, and holding the space together. Good news arrived with Bender settling into his new family, and moments of joy followed with cinema nights, birthdays, sleepovers, and the long awaited ramp finally making the house safer and more accessible. 🤍

🎙️ After getting the green light from the orthopedist, the family traveled south for the Voices for Climate Action podcast training. It became a powerful week of learning how to speak up for the climate. Joyce joined her first recordings as a guest, while Ilektra hosted her very first podcast and was also invited as a guest on another one. We were happy to reconnect with Tina and to form new friendships with Carla, Danae, Aspasia, and many other women entrepreneurs for the climate. 🎙️

🌿 Before the next chapter, we spent precious days with friends Athena, Zoi, and Chris, camping, gardening, laughing, and reconnecting. The journey continued to Nessonas for a master builder workshop where a full cob house took shape through shared hands, clay, bamboo, and collective knowledge. With Kostas and Jérôme guiding an international group, days were filled with building, learning, and finally decorating a space that truly became a home. Meeting Hugo in person for the very first time, after more than a year of connecting online, made the experience even more special. 🌿

✨ June ended slowly, surrounded by the Cob family and dear friends, with creativity, collaboration, and gratitude flowing as strongly as the summer light. ✨
