✨🔦 Pilots in the Spotlight 🔦✨

📍Today we explore the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae, hidden high in the mountains of the Peloponnese, Greece.

A UNESCO World Heritage site located at 1,131 meters above sea level, the Temple of Apollo Epicurius is considered one of the most remarkable masterpieces of ancient Greek architecture. Built during the classical era, the temple uniquely combines conservative and innovative architectural elements, making it a milestone in the evolution of ancient Greek design. Exceptionally well preserved, the site reveals the ingenuity and artistic vision of its time while standing as a symbol of cultural resilience across centuries.

Today, the temple is more than history, it’s a living story of resilience and creativity. As part of the HERIT ADAPT pilot initiative, it bridges ancient craftsmanship with digital innovation, showing how sustainable tourism can keep remote heritage sites alive and thriving in a changing world.

📍Today we explore the Villefranche-de-Conflent in the Occitanie, France, within the Canigó area.

This fortified heritage site of exceptional value reflects centuries of history, with origins in the 11th century and significant transformations in the 17th century, situated near the Spanish border. Through the HERIT ADAPT pilot initiative, the site is studied as a living example of how heritage locations can respond to modern challenges such as tourism pressure and climate change. By applying monitoring tools and vulnerability assessments, the project helps better understand current conditions and anticipate future risks, supporting informed decision-making and the sustainable protection of this historically and culturally significant landscape.
