🇺🇸The Mobile Unit stands on the shoulders of those that support it. 🇺🇸

🪨 This past month EOD Mobile Unit 5 executed the Stone Fish competition! A 2 day evolution where teams of support personnel had the chance to showcase their skills through land navigation, marksmanship, medical assessments and evaluations and many other expeditionary skills that are required to support the mission. 🐟

❗️Many teams participated but two claimed the title of the most well rounded in their skillsets congratulations ND2 Josh Smith and HM2 Corey Barger for winning Stone Fish 2025❗️

Today, the Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal community celebrates its 84th birthday, marking the date in 1941 when the Navy’s first Mine Disposal class graduated, signifying the birth of the EOD community.

The “Shinner’s Bathtub Sailors” are pictured above, referring to Sailors assigned to Naval Combat Demolition Unit 20 (NCDU-20) in 1943 including the founder of Navy EOD, Draper L. Kauffman, as well as Navy EOD Detachment Marianas responding to historic unexploded ordnance (UXO) located on Naval Base Guam. These pictures are a testament to the enduring mission of Navy EOD, to protect personnel and property from explosive threats.

We remember! EOD Mobile Unit FIVE conducted a Memorial PT to honor four Navy EOD Technicians that made the ultimate sacrifice in support of GWOT.

The MU5 team read biographies, said a hooyah for our brothers, and finished with a kit run, calisthenics, and open ocean swim to honor July’s fallen.
