Please join us all of us here at NAMWU-1, in celebrating the completion of a successful tour for the Pannell family and the beginning of a new chapter for the Perez family!!

AO2 Jason Pannell and his wife Robinette were both a cornerstone of the NAWMU-1 Family with their dedicated service as an Aviation Ordnance Technician and Command Ombudsman. To say their presence will be missed would be an incredible understatement, and we wish them both the very best in their future endeavors.

The newly frocked AO1 Perez continues to exemplify everything it means to be leader among his peers and could not be more deserving of his new promotion! With his family by his side, supporting him every step of the way, we're certain that he will take everything he has learned and hit the deck plates running when he and his family rotate to their next duty station.

Congratulations and thank you again to the Pannell and Perez families on their hard work and dedication, and we wish them nothing but continued success!!

🇺🇲🇺🇲SALUTE TO SERVICE🇺🇲🇺🇲

AO2(AW/SW) Pietrimorales
NAWMU-1 Ordnance Team Leader
Hometown: Guanica, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Length of Service: 6 Years

Most Memorable Moment:
"During my first port call to Guam, I somehow managed to contact the wrong ship for a phone muster while on overnight liberty...the confusion that followed for everyone involved certainly made for an interesting sea story."

Why I Joined:
"Growing up seeing the Navy in movies and TV was always something that peaked my interest, but the movie Battleship (yes, the one with Rihanna) was the moment I knew the Navy was the right choice for me. I was a little disappointed to find out later that the US doesn't actually have battleships anymore, but it wasn't exactly a deal breaker."

Happy 250th Birthday to the United States Navy! 🎉⚓

250 years of service, sacrifice, and sea stories — today we celebrate the legacy of the world’s greatest Naval Fighting Force! NAWMU-1 took a moment to reflect on what this milestone means to each of us as Sailors, carrying forward the same spirit that’s guided our Navy since 1775.

Of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without a little cake! 🍰 Here’s to 250 years of honor, courage, and commitment — and to all the Sailors past and present who keep the tradition alive.

"People First...Mission Always" - NAWMU-1 embodies this ethos everyday...from giving back to our community, to keeping ourselves fit to fight, and sustaining morale thru chili cookoffs (even if that chili was more like a dip 😒) and "target practice". We work hard, we play hard, and NAWMU-1 is always ready for a challenge!

It isn't just about work at NAWMU-1! Our Command adopted the roadside right off the Magazine and do roadside cleanups not only to help keep this amazing island clean and beautiful, but also to show the residents of the village of Santa Rita that we care. Always leave it cleaner than you left it!
