USCGC Hickory is HOME! 🇬🇺

After a grueling 71-day, 13,000+ nautical mile journey from Baltimore through the Panama Canal (and a quick stop in Majuro for joint aids to navigation assessment work), the “Bull of the Pacific” crew safely moored in Guam today!

This milestone restores full strength to Coast Guard Oceania District’s three seagoing buoy tenders, ensuring reliable aids to navigation across 90 federally maintained aids to navigation in our vast Pacific waters. These safe sea lanes support military readiness, commercial shipping, and economic stability in a key region.

During the extended maintenance, our teams showed incredible ingenuity—Hickory crew, partners, and jump teams repaired vital aids post-Typhoon Mawar, sister cutter Juniper stepped in later that year, and a recent October 2025 effort by ANT Honolulu fixed seven key aids across Guam, Rota, Saipan, and Tinian.

Now, with Hickory’s upgraded systems and heavy-lift crane, we’re ready to tackle up to seven outstanding repairs to federal aids and deliver full multi-mission support: search and rescue, law enforcement, environmental protection, and homeland security.

Hats off to this stellar crew for enduring long separations and demanding prep—they’re excited to reunite with families and get after it!

“This crew has shown remarkable resilience through extended separations and demanding preparations. We are excited to reunite with our families in Guam and eager to get underway on ATON missions that keep these vital sea lanes safe. As a multi-mission cutter, Hickory stands ready to support the full spectrum of Coast Guard operations in this critical region,” — Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Lash, CO of Hickory
