Regional Executive Officer Deolall Rooplall, this morning, convened a Regional Management Meeting with Programme Managers and Departmental Heads to discuss matters relating to effective governance, prudent management of resources, and the enhancement of service delivery across Region #2.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review ongoing programmes, address key operational priorities, and reinforce the Region's commitment to accountability, efficiency, and responsive public service.

The Regional Democratic Council remains dedicated to ensuring that services are delivered effectively and in the best interest of all residents of Region #2.

Ongoing monitoring of the drainage and irrigation system by the Engineering Department, RDC 2

Deputy Regional Executive Officer Omesh Sasenarayan conducted visits to the Charity Housing Scheme, Somerset & Berks, and New Road areas to assess drainage conditions.

While no reports of flooding have been received, the Regional Democratic Council remains proactive in monitoring internal drainage systems to ensure they remain functional and prepared for any adverse weather conditions.

Deputy Regional Executive Officer Omesh Sasenarayan conducted inspections of sluices and pump stations along the coast to ensure operational readiness for inclement weather.

The Regional Engineering Unit, supported by its rangers, is closely monitoring the sluice attendants and pump operators to maintain efficient drainage operations.

All facilities visited were found to be fully operational, reflecting the Region’s proactive commitment to flood prevention, community safety, and agricultural support during adverse weather conditions.

The Statutory Toshaos Meeting for Region 2 was conducted today, Friday, in the Personnel Boardroom at the RDC. The meeting was presided over by Ms. Renelle Williams, the Community Development Officer and Regional Councillor, and included representatives from the Health, Education, and Local Government departments.

These monthly gatherings serve as a crucial forum for sharing the achievements of our Amerindian villages throughout the region, as well as for discussing the concerns and difficulties impacting our communities. We are committed to collaborating for more robust and enduring development within our Amerindian Villages in Region 2.

REO Rooplall Meets with Contractors Today

Newly appointed Regional Executive Officer, Mr. Deolall Rooplall, and Engineering team met with contractors who are currently doing capital and current works in the region.
The REO spoke about:
• The timeline of project completion
• The quality of work
• Re-establishing the contractors' file
• Writing up late and non-compliant contractors
