The department of youth region no. 2 would like to extend congratulations to the ladies who successfully completed introduction social work, Cake and Cookery classes held at IDCE region no. 2 centre.

A total of 45 young ladies were selected to attend these three (3) classes during the year 2019 and 2020. This was the first time the youth department sponsored such training programme in the region.

We are sharing some of the ladies pictures who successfully completed the three classes.

The ladies extended thanks to Mr. Herald Alves the Youth and Culture Officer of region no. 2 for giving them this opportunity to further they education and learn new skills.

Most of the ladies who did the cake and Cookery classes have started they own business and is working towards developing themselves more.

The department of culture and youth region no. 2 has part of the department of youth plan to help young people during this time of COVID where there is not much outdoor activities and interaction.

This is a group of young footballers who are coming together to make a difference and to get football back in the community.

They are presently under the guidance of Mr. Kenroy Simple. Who is working with the young boys to use football to help keep them fine away to over come peer pressure and other everyday challenges.

The football's were presented to the players by Mr. Herald Alves the youth officer of the region. During the presentation he held a one on one with the boys and share some of his personal experience.

The Progressive Youth Organisation held a Hike and Fun Day at Tapakuma Lake Mission on the 7th March 2021.

This was the first activity of the organisation for the year 2021 in region no. 2.
To start off the day activity of fun and interaction the young people were involved in a short Hike to Tapakuma Lake Mission.

When the youths got to Tapakuma they were welcome by the the youths of Tapakuma Lake Mission. While the youths from along the region were at the mission they started to interact with the local youths and spend the rest of the day playing cricket.

At the end of the day trophies were presented to the winning teams and the Youth Organisation also made donation of sports gears to the youths of Tapakuma Lake Mission. The presentation was done by the region no. 2 PYO President.

Today the department of youth region no 2 held a one day workshop in observance of International women's day.

The workshop was held under the name: " How to be a better women". The theme: " Be Bold For Challenges"

The day activity started with the Youth Officer Mr Herald Alves doing the welcome and outline the propose of the day activity.

The first presentation was done by Magistrate Leron Daly. In her presentation to the ladies she encourage them to be bold to speak out and speak up for themselves and other women. She share several information on how to be a better woman. She also share her personal life story with the ladies and the challenges she had to face to get to her goal.
Magistrate Daly was born and live on Essequibo Coast too. So she can relate to the challenges women in the region are face with.

After Magistrate Daly presentation Miss. Judy Lall took over the rest of the day session with the women. During the session the ladies was involved in group interactive session and presentation.

At the end of the day activity Miss. Aliyah's Pearson did the vote of thanks and encourage the women to share the information when they get back home.

Gifts was presented to the ladies who attended the activity.

Day two (2) of the youth department region no. 2 community outreach programme. Today we meet with youths in Charity, Dartmouth and Pomuna.

The youths was given an opportunity to share they views and issues affecting them in there community.

There will be a follow up visit by the youth department.
