Minister Vindhya Persaudโ€™s charge to those on the frontline dealing with child sexual abuse and r**e cases was clear:

Be accountable. Listen. Act urgently. Work together.

No delays when a childโ€™s safety is at stake. Every survivor deserves protection, support and justice.

The fight against sexual violence, especially against our children, demands action from every level.

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, through its Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Policy Unit (SO&DVPU), on Wednesday commenced a three-day Child Sexual Abuse Workshop, bringing together frontline professionals who play a critical role in preventing abuse, protecting children and ensuring survivors receive the support and justice they deserve.

Police officers, doctors, child protection and probation officers, lawyers, school counsellors and other key professionals are being equipped to better identify, respond to and handle cases of child sexual abuse.

Delivering the feature remarks at the opening at the Guyana Police Force Training Centre, Minister, Hon. Dr. Vindhya Persaud, reinforced the urgent need for stronger collective action to stamp out sexual violence.

Protecting our children cannot be negotiable. The Ministry remains committed to confronting this scourge head-on, strengthening the systems that protect children and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable.

Every child deserves to grow up safe, protected and free from sexual violence.

After two weeks on the road for regional outreaches, Minister Vindhya Persaud was back at her Open Day today, sitting down with more than 40 people who came to her for guidance, support and help with various matters.

For Minister Persaud, keeping her doors open means people can come, have a conversation, explain what theyโ€™re dealing with and get the help or direction they need.

Serving people is what she enjoys most, and Open Day continues to be one of the ways she stays connected to the people she serves.
