Here are some words of encouragement from current Fulbright student, Keishann Griffith, who is currently experiencing the journey firsthand:

"One year ago, I was hitting 'submit' on my Fulbright application. Today, I’m at The University of Texas at Dallas pursuing my master's in applied cognition and neuroscience.
To the 2027 applicants: The process is rigorous, and the standards are high, but the doors this program open are life changing. Don't let the opportunity pass by. Put in the work for your future.” – Keishann Griffith, 2025 Fulbright Foreign Student

Lorenzo Jacobis is bringing construction and renewable energy expertise back to Guyana thanks to the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative - YLAI in Phoenix!

"Here in Phoenix, Arizona, I'm attached to BCE Construction Inc, who specializes in civil construction and renewable energy solutions. I've had the privilege of being exposed to their work in EV charging infrastructure installations, commercial solar installations and civil infrastructural work. Working closely with them has exposed me to their business goals, practices, structure and culture, all of which aligns closely to mine, therefore giving me the opportunity to combine these best practices to enhance my operations. Additionally, I've been adding value to their organization by participating in the competitive bidding process, applying my expertise to enhance their competitiveness. In addition to BCE, I've been participating in entrepreneurial and solution pitching workshops at various organizations, one being the Arizona State University (ASU). Overall, the networking, collaboration and business growth opportunities have been very beneficial to me and my business."

Lorenzo's experience showcases the mutual benefits of the YLAI program, gaining cutting-edge knowledge in renewable energy and infrastructure while contributing valuable expertise to his U.S. host organization.

Religious freedom has been a cornerstone of American democracy for 250 years. From the Pilgrims in Massachusetts to Catholics in Maryland and Quakers in Pennsylvania, the United States was built by those seeking the freedom to worship without persecution.

Today, the United States continues to honor and protect this fundamental right for all. Read more: https://share.america.gov/americans-honor-250-years-of-religious-freedom/

Since 1776, Americans have valued the freedom to worship as they choose, as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

✍️Application Tip: Your Study Objective is your Roadmap

One of the most critical parts of your 2027 The Fulbright Program Application is the Study Objective. This isn’t just a summary of your past—it’s a bold statement of your future.

Our alumna, Renea Douglas explains how clarity in her goals made all the difference: "Write a clearly articulated study objective or academic goal statement. This is your opportunity to state exactly what you want to achieve. When I applied, I focused on how forensic science could change things here in Guyana.

Since my return, I’ve been gainfully employed by the Forensic Laboratory as a Science Officer, utilizing the knowledge I gained directly from my Master of Science in Forensic Studies from Syracuse University, New York."

Pro-Tip: When writing your objective, ask yourself: "How will my degree from the U.S. fill a specific gap in my home country?"
