Governed by a National Standards Council appointed by the Minister of Tourism Industry and Commerce, GNBS holds the legal status of a statutory corporation. Our operations are guided by internationally recognized standards, as evidenced by our ISO 9001:2015 certification and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. Our mission is clear: "To develop and implement the National Quality Infrastructure in partnership with key stakeholders, towards sustainable socioeconomic development and consumer protection." LABORATORY CERTIFICATION | We are proud to congratulate Leonora Hospital Laboratory on being officially certified by the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) for successfully implementing the GYS 170:2021 Standard - General Requirements for the Operation of a Laboratory.

During a brief ceremony that marked this achievement, a certificate and plaque were presented by GNBS Head of Certification Services (Ag), Keon Rankin and Technical Officer, Delroy Benn.
Receiving on behalf of Leonora Hospital Laboratory was Danielle Semple, Laboratory Manager respectively in the presence of the Quality Manager, Tereasia Ramlochan, Regional Health Officer of Region 3, Dr. Fiaaz Hassan, along with other staff from the hospital.

Remarks were delivered by GNBS, Head of Corporate Communication, Lloyd David, who applauded the Leonora Hospital Laboratory for achieving this significant milestone.
He commended the Laboratory team for their dedication to meeting national laboratory standards and emphasized the importance of GYS 170.
