Our Story
HISTORY :
Mr. Lal Balkaran is the founder of the IIA-Guyana Chapter which he started on January 24, 2000 at the then Park Hotel in Main Street, Georgetown, Guyana. The Charter for the Chapter was granted AFTERWARDS at the April 2000 Leadership Conference at IIA Global HQ in April 2000 in Orlando, Florida when he presented the resolution signed by those in attendance at the Jan 24 inaugural meeting.
Please see excerpts of his opening speech and the ‘AuditWire News’ from IIA HQ back in 2000.
Following a public meeting held in Guyana on January 24, 2000, a resolution was signed for the formation of a Guyana Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. The event capped a nearly five months effort by Mr. Lal Balkaran, a Canadian citizen of Guyanese origin who at that time served as the Secretary of the Toronto Chapter.
