FAREWELL Cde. Chandrowtee Ramnarain, aka Aunty Lelo from Coconut Dam, Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara. She exited this earthly realm in Saturday 1st February, 2025.

She was an elected member of the Central Committee of the Women's Progressive Organisation and served for several terms.

She was a political live-wire in her village of Cane Grove and made herself available to the people in their time of need. God don't make people like her anymore.

Chandrowtee served several terms in the Regional Democratic Council of Region #4 as a Councillor, representing the People's Progressive Party/Civic. She also served on the National Road Safety Council, representing the people on how to use the roads safely.

This Stalwart struggled alongside the PPP for the restoration of democracy in 1992, against PNC dictatorship for 28 years and continued to serve until the end.

She was a grassroot leader who was the eyes and ears of the PPP. She served on the Regional Committee of the PPP on the East Coast Demerara.

But more so, she was a believer and a practicing Hindu.

This comrade, whenever called upon, readily join activities or help to organise activities . She was a strong and committed member of the PPP and the WPO.

She will be missed by all she worked with, interacted with or helped. She served well. The WPO was honoured to have her as a Women's Leader, who had the largest group membership in the country of 300. WPO was privileged to have had her as a leader of the Organisation for more than 50 years.

May your soul find peace in the house of God. Sleep on.
