Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat, is meeting with mining and logging stakeholders of the natural resources sector.

Today's Open Day is providing the Region 6 stakeholders with a one-on-one platform to meet with Minister Vickram Bharrat to raise matters of concern and to discuss and implement practical solutions where possible.

Minister Bharrat remains committed to engaging directly with miners and loggers of all regions, to ensure efficient management of the sector and proactive responses.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) and the Protected Areas Commission (PAC), continued its implementation of the Sustainable Landscape Project through capacity development of Villagers of the North Rupununi District .

Over the duration of two weeks, seventeen loggers of the villages of Aranaputa, Kwaimatta, Rewa, Surama and Wowetta, benefitted from the Reduced Impact Logging Course which was conducted by the Forestry Training Centre Inc. at its Mariwa Training Site.

The loggers were exposed to both theoretical and practical knowledge on Forest Management Planning, Pre-harvest Inventory, Tree Identification, Directional Felling and Occupational Health and Safety Best Practices.
