Behind the Scenes at GPHC: Nourishing Recovery, One Meal at a Time
In observance of Caribbean Nutrition Week, we're taking you behind the scenes of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation's kitchen operations, where dedicated teams work tirelessly to prepare nutritious, safe, and balanced meals for our patients every day.
On average, GPHC cares for approximately 480 admitted patients daily, including both adult and pediatric patients. To support their recovery and wellbeing, our Dietary Department prepares and serves five meals each day—breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, and dinner.
That's approximately 2,400 meals and snacks prepared and distributed every day, carefully planned to meet the nutritional needs of patients across the hospital. From specialized diets to everyday meal preparation, every tray served represents a commitment to quality patient care.
Join us as we highlight the people, processes, and passion that go into feeding hundreds of patients daily and learn how good nutrition contributes to better health outcomes.
🥗 Because at GPHC, food is more than a meal—it's part of the medicine.
