Russian Ambassador congratulates Guyana on Independence Day

Dear citizens of Guyana! Dear friends!

From the bottom of my heart I congratulate you on the 60th Anniversary of Independence of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana!

These years have become a permanent part of your history. Take pride and remember them. The Soviet Union and then the Russian Federation continues to support the aspirations of peoples on all continents to achieve sovereignty and independence. Not for oil, nor for gold, nor for diamonds. There are values far greater than these, to which it is worth devoting one’s life.

We are continuing our consistent efforts to eradicate the vestiges of colonialism. A broad anti-neocolonial front of the Global Majority is taking shape. With Guyana’s support, on 5 December 2025 the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution ‘International Day against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations’. It serves as an expression of the voice of the countries of the Global South, giving a significant impetus to the work on the anti-colonial track and creating a framework for combating not only the residual manifestations of the colonial era, but also its contemporary practices.

Relations between Moscow and Georgetown have a rich history and are currently developing constructively.

In the 1970-980s, following regular multilateral meetings between Soviet and Guyanese delegations, our countries reached an agreement on trade, economic, cultural, scientific and marine fisheries cooperation.

In 2005, an intergovernmental agreement on visa-free travel for diplomatic and service passports was signed. On September 27, 2015, on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, visa waiver agreement for mutual travel between Russia and Guyana was reached.

Healthcare is a key dimension of cooperation between our states. In April 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia delivered approximately 83 000 doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine to Guyana.

Education also remains a priority for cooperation. Every year, within the framework of the Russian State program "Government Scholarship Russia," students from Guyana are admitted to top Russian Universities. Approximately 200 Guyanese citizens who are graduates from our Universities are working in Guyana. Some of them hold high-ranking government positions. Our positions on the international arena correspond in rejection of attempts to distort history, reverse the roles of victims and executioners and consign to oblivion the heroism of those who resisted attempts to enslave peoples.

Dear Guyanese Friends!

May the universal human values, the wisdom and the teachings of your ancestors guide you through all your endeavours.

I sincerely wish you peace, stability, well-being and prosperity. We hope for further strengthening of the friendly bilateral relations, mutually beneficial cooperation, and partnership between our countries for the benefit of our peoples.

Sincerely yours,
Andrey Pritsepov.

The first motorcade in Guyana🇬🇾 to mark Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945

On May 9, 2026, compatriots residing in the country organized a motorcade in Georgetown to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

The city streets were adorned with Russian flags🇷🇺 and Victory banners and filled with the roar of engines. The motorcade’s passage sparked genuine excitement and sincere interest among the local population—many Guyanese wanted to join in the celebration.

Participants in the motorcade were given a ceremonial reception at the Russian Embassy. Russian Ambassador Andrey A. Pritsepov personally greeted the motorcade and congratulated the arrived guests on our shared holiday.

It was heartening to see families coming with their children, passing on a sense of pride and the memory of our ancestors’ heroic deeds to the younger generation. We were once again reminded that these feelings remain the invisible thread that binds us together, no matter where we are.

🇷🇺 On May 8, 2025, the Russian Embassy in Guyana hosted a solemn reception commemorating the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

The Acting Head of State, Prime Minister Mark Phillips represented the Government of Guyana. In accordance with established protocol, Health Minister Frank Anthony stood in for Guyana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was on an overseas trip.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps, heads and staff of local government agencies, Russian nationals residing in Guyana, and Guyanese graduates of Soviet and Russian universities traditionally attended the event.

❗ In his remarks, Russian Ambassador Andrey A. Pritsepov highlighted the immeasurable heroism of all those who fought and perished on the battlefield in the name of Victory, saving their homeland and all of humanity. He emphasized the need to preserve the collective memory of the inhuman nature of fascism and na**sm, as well as the importance of countering attempts to falsify history, noting that Guyana regularly votes in support of Russia’s draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on combating the glorification of na**sm.

Prime Minister Mark Phillips, in turn, expressed hope that the Victory achieved through the incredible efforts of Soviet and Allied soldiers would continue to serve as a guiding principle for building a peaceful and just world order.

The Embassy welcomed a total of about 150 guests on this celebratory evening. The traditional Russian delicacies served were particularly popular: pancakes with salmon, Far Eastern-style salted herring with rye bread, hot potato pies, and buckwheat porridge with meat “Suvorov-style”.

The reception had a warm and friendly atmosphere.

🔹 Embassy's web-site presents an exhibition "Yakov Chernikhov. The Image of the Future. Architectural Fantasies of the Russian Avant-Garde" 🔹

The exhibition presents a retrospective of the work of the outstanding visionary of architecture Yakov Chernikhov (1889–1951) whose visionary view of the century was ahead of its time and anticipated the development of modern urbanism, graphic and web design.

The exhibition demonstrates how Chernikhov’s works reflect the complex path of Soviet architecture of the first half of the 20th century from bold avant-garde experiments to Stalinist neoclassicism.

Chernikhov, a brilliant graphic artist and teacher, synthesized the ideas of suprematism, constructivism, and rationalism in his works, creating a universal language of form.

19 April marks the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People, perpetrated by the N***s and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. This date was established by a federal law that came into force on 1 January 2026.

More than 27 million Soviet citizens fell at the hands of the fascists and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War, half of whom were civilians. According to historians’ estimates, around 13.7 million civilians in our country died a martyr’s death as a result of the N***s’ merciless policy of extermination.

▪️ At least 7.4 million people were deliberately killed (shot, burned or buried alive) by Hitler’s executioners.

▪️ Hard labour in concentration camps and inhumane treatment led to the violent deaths of a further 2.2 million people. Over 1 million children and teenagers were sent to concentration camps.

▪️ In enemy-occupied territories, a further 4.1 million people died prematurely — from the general deterioration in living conditions, disease and starvation.

▪️ At least 1 million people were tortured to death during the Siege of Leningrad — the greatest war crime in human history.

Demographers estimate the total population loss in the USSR during the Great Patriotic War (according to various assessments) at 30–40 million people. This appalling figure speaks volumes about the actual losses, the scale of the tragedy, and the genuine genocide of the Soviet people.

The echoes of the war continued to reverberate over our country for a long time to come. Indirect losses – families never formed, children never born, premature deaths from illness and injury. Who can count them?

Historical materials have been published on the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ digital resources (https://t.me/MID_Russia/77974), providing a detailed account of various aspects of the genocide carried out by the N***s and their accomplices—thus helping to systematise our understanding of the Third Reich’s monstrous plans and crimes.

A section dedicated to the genocide of the Soviet people has been launched on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s web portal. (https://mid.ru/ru/foreign_policy/genotsid_sovetskogo_naroda/)

It is our duty to our ancestors’ memory to ensure that crimes without a statute of limitations are never forgotten!

No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten.

GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia to hold Open Creative Competition “Architecture of Diplomacy” for its milestone 5th time

GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia announces the start of the 5th Open Creative Competition “Architecture of Diplomacy.”
The contest will be international in scope for the second year in a row. Young artists aged 12 to 35 from all around the world, including established professionals and amateurs, university and college students, trainees from creative courses and schools, are invited to participate.
The subject for this year is “The Matryoshka doll, a conversation of ornaments and colors.” Artists are invited to reimagine one of the most recognizable phenomena of the Russian culture, the Matryoshka doll, as a symbol of family, unity and prosperity, using pictorial arts, decorative and applied arts and crafts.
For the first time in the competition's history, winners will be chosen in three categories. In addition to the traditional Child Artist (age 12 to 18) and Young Artist (age 18 to 35) categories, the jury will also evaluate works submitted in the Author of Small Sculptural Composition category.
Participants may use the basic idea and shape of the Matryoshka doll as a starting point, making it a canvas for the following stylistic interpretations:
• Recognizable images from their own national cultures;
• The peoples of Russia in all their diversity, to celebrate the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia;
• Periods in the history of their countries;
• Intercultural or international communication ideas;
• Images that reveal the idea of connecting the inner and the outer—the understanding of oneself, one's own people or country;
• Other visual images, at the discretion of the authors, emphasizing the originality and universality of the Matryoshka doll image for different peoples, cultures and countries.
The image of the Matryoshka doll itself has to be recognizable (even if its initial parameters change to accommodate the participant's creative vision and concept).
Prize money will be awarded to the winners.
Competition entries may be submitted till June 10.
The award ceremony will take place in Moscow.
