*NEW AMSTERDAM TOWN COUNCIL SHARES BREAKFAST WITH PENSIONERS AT POST OFFICE*

NEW AMSTERDAM, BERBICE – The Mayor and Town Council of New Amsterdam hosted a special Breakfast Sharing Exercise for pensioners, this morning at the *New Amsterdam Post Office, Vryman's Erven.

Dozens of senior citizens gathered from as early as 05:00 a.m, to enjoy a hot, traditional Guyanese breakfast served by His Worship Mayor, Wainwright Mc Intosh, and Town Council staffers . Support were given by Councillors Nicola Luther, and Cordel Austin, along with Impressions Signs family of Church Street.

*Pensioners were treated to:*
*-* Bakes and saltfish
*-* Bread with eggs and sausage
*-* Channa
*-* Cold sorrel drink and tin juices

Many of our pensioners had line up very early for their payments.
'Today, we wanted to ensure they also started the day with a warm meal and a smile,” said Mayor Mc Intosh , who had earlier prayed for divine blessings on the elderly , and also for those who prepared the meal.

“The monthly breakfast, is the Council's way of saying thank you, to the pensioners, for their years of service to this town.”

The pensioners, expressed gratitude for the gesture, as many would have left their respective homes very early, to join the long lines. Over the past months, some pensioners had fainted, beause they had fail to consuming the first meal, before leaving home.

Meanwhile, in an effort to check on the health status of the elderly, members of the Organization for Social and Health Advancement in Guyana ( OSHAG ) held a medical outreach, simultaneously with the breakfast sharing.. Chairperson of OSHAG is Municipal Councillor Ms Carol Trim.

*NOTICE OF INFRACTION*

An inspection of the property located at Lot 50-2 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice on April 29, 2026, found that the construction *DOES NOT COMPLY* with the Approved Building Plan dated 26th March 2026.

*VIOLATION:*
The *approved plan states that the steps/staircase must be located on the EASTERN side* of the building.

*Site inspection shows the steps have been built on the NORTHERN side.*

This is a breach of the Building Regulations.

*ACTION REQUIRED:*

*CORRECT THE VIOLATION* within 7 DAYS from the date of this notice by relocating steps to the EAST side as approved..

*FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN:*
Legal action, fines, Stop Order, and/or demolition of unapproved structure at your cost.

Kindness after flames - Fire victim gets help to start over .

Fire victim Tricia Wintz received much needed relief after staffers of the Mayor's Complex , donated items to help her restart.

The items were presented by Mayor Wainwright Mc Intosh, in the presence of Mayoral Secretary Ms. Shondel Barker Halley, and Public Relations Officer Ms. Jeune Van Keric.

Wintz, two flat wooden and concrete edifice was destroyed following an early morning fire at her home, located at Glasgow Village, East Bank Berbice.

' Charity begins at home. These tokens were specifically given so, you can rest comfortably, even as you strategize how to rebuild' remarked Ms Van Keric.

An emotional Tricia Wintz expressed gratitude for the support.
