Sand Creek Village, Guyana

Sand Creek Village, Guyana Sand Creek (Suburin) sitting in the valley Sand - Creek Village is located in South- Central Rupununi, Region 9.

It is home to the Wapishana tribe with a population of just over 800. Sand - Creek got its name from a sandy creek nearby called the "Katiwau". However, for generations, the village has been known as Suburin. Subur (baboons) constantly roamed the village and can still be seen and heard howling from nearby mountains. Join us in congratulating the amazing Grade 5 and 6 boys and girls of Sand Creek Primary, who went head-to-head against Rupunau Primary in yesterday's South Central Grade 5 and 6 Cricket and Football Tournament!
​Here are the thrilling results from yesterday's action-packed matchups:
Girls' Category: Sand Creek Primary dominated the field, emerging victorious in both cricket and football!
Boys' Category: Rupunau Primary took the cricket match, but our boys fought hard and secured a brilliant win in football!

The tournament moves to our village tomorrow! Come out in your numbers to cheer on and support our brilliant little ones as they take on Sawariwau and Katoonarib Primary schools. Rupunau Primary will also be here.

Nature in her prime, the Rupununi River in Sand Creek Village, Guyana , flowing in her full glory. While the sight is breathtaking, the water is relentless and the currents can be extremely strong and unpredictable. We are calling on all residents and travelers to prioritize safety above all else during this high-water season.
