✨This week on 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘆𝘀, Cruzanne Macalligan speaks with Myrian Fan, registered nurse, researcher and PhD candidate at CUHK – and mother of a child with autism.

When her eldest son began showing signs of autism, Myrian stepped away from nursing and found herself questioning everything she thought she knew about motherhood, identity and what it means to support a child. Over time, she came to a profound realisation: autism isn't something to fix. It's something to understand, support and accommodate.

That change in perspective led her to the water, where she noticed something important: in nature, children don't have to perform or fit a particular social mould. They can simply be. Through her research, she asks what happens when we create environments where difference isn't a deficit, but a strength - and where autistic children can experience challenge, connection and the freedom to be themselves.
