Trees help prevent soil erosion. On hillsides or stream slopes, trees slow runoff and hold soil in place.⁠

Deforested hills can cause great environmental harm. It can cause erosion and eventually desertification. When it rains it can also lead to mudslides. ⁠

Mollisonian mantras of “working with, rather than against, nature” and of "engaging in “protracted and thoughtful observation, rather than protracted and thoughtless labor." let him to defined permaculture.⁠

His definition goes as follows: “The conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive systems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the landscape with people providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way.”⁠

A typical rainy day in our humid tropical forest. This is our winter season. Temperatures are still hot just it rains almost daily. We are grateful to receive this gift as we know it is nourishment to trees and to all the organisms that grow in the soil.

To hear the sound of thunder and the rain coming down is a beautiful song that mother earth gifts to us.
