The video shows the traditional preparation of peka in the Dalmatian hinterland. A mixture of meat, potatoes, and vegetables is seasoned with local herbs and olive oil, then placed in a round metal pan. The pan is covered with a heavy iron or clay lid, which is buried under hot embers. Slowly baking under the lid gives the dish its unique smoky flavor and tender texture. This centuries-old method is a hallmark of Dalmatian cuisine and a symbol of gathering family and friends around authentic homemade food.
