Nove Starine Eco-project dedicated to the preservation of nature & the promotion of unfiltered, artistic expression. Bio je to ilegalni deponij, jako ružnog izgleda.

Volunteers from around the world cooperate to achieve this goal by using natural & reclaimed materials to create freely and inspire sustainable living. Prije 10 godina solinski kipar Ivan Tokić, dobio je na korištenje jedan šumski prostor na zapadnom dijelu grada Solina. U početku ga je pomalo čistio i bavio se klesanjem velikih kamenih instalacija koje su bile postavljane u većim turističkim cent

rima (Dubrovnik, Split, Trogir, Plitvička jezera). Nakon 5,6 godina čišćenja Tokić je počeo uviđati kako prostor ima veliki kulturno – socijalni potencijal pa ga je vođen raznim idejama nazvao „Racionalni park“. Sam park je dobio naziv „Nove Starine“. O parku se nedavno počelo govoriti i u javnosti. Postao je zanimljiv zbog svog imena, djelatnosti i koncepta. Konceptualno, racionalni park je mjesto stvaranja i prezentiranja svih vrsta umjetnosti koje se upleću u socijalni suživot bivajući u održivom ciklusu. Do sada su zaživjele sljedeće aktivnosti kao dijelovi tog ciklusa:

1. Veća kiparska radionica za razne polaznike

2. Ljetno kino u šumskom usjeku koje će uskoro biti i podij za male kazališne komade

3. Veliki krug od kamenih stolica za večeri poezije, proze i slično

4. Livada za manje glazbene koncerte kao World Music i sl.

5. Drvena knjižnica koja je ujedno i škola stranih jezika

6. Šumski centar za tjelovježbu i razne oblike meditacije

7. Intuitivna poljoprivreda mješana s gradnjom potpornih kamenih zidova

8. Brzi tečajevi življenja u uvjetima koji su važan dio održivog ciklusa

Do sada je tu boravilo oko 400 volontera iz cijelog svijeta te su gotovo svi oduševljeni boravkom u parku a neki se i vraćaju ponovno u park. Park nudi specifično zanimljive uvjete života: vanjski tuš, suhi WC, otvorena ljetna kuhinja te smještaj u šatorima što je za mnoge jedna uzbudljiva i izazovna promjena. Park će uz volontere posjećivati i sve veći broj dnevnih gostiju. Svi su dobro došli živjeti u park i osjetiti tu kombinaciju umjetnosti, druženja i održivog ciklusa. Filozofija parka sačinjava stav da je život samo proces i što smo više u njemu više ćemo sreće osjetiti i podijeliti u drugima.

Our Story

Nove Starine (translating to “New Ruins”) is a collaborative project dedicated to promoting harmonious coexistence with the natural world, and fostering free, unfiltered artistic expression. Volunteers from the local community and abroad unite in their efforts to inspire changes in conventional ways of thought and spread Nove Starine’s mission of environmental stewardship and creative freedom. It is difficult to sum up the true essence of Nove Starine in only so many words. In order to capture its true nature, you truly have to live and feel it.

Ivan Tokic, a master stone sculptor and the founder of Nove Starine, dedicated the past fourteen years turning what was a tragically abandoned junkyard into the polar opposite; a flourishing ecological preserve and artistic haven. Using reclaimed, unwanted items and the wealth of local natural resources, Ivan and his volunteers build eco structures, grow organic sustainable foods in the permaculture garden, and create a beautiful variety of art installations. Through this experience, individuals learn to coexist more harmoniously with the natural world and better express themselves through various artistic mediums. Although Nove Starine has blossomed into a cultural icon of Solin and Split, it still needs the continual support of those that sympathise with its cause.

Free expression through art, conversation and thought is encouraged and is at the very core of Nove Starine. Ivan rejects the typical conventions of art and there are no right or wrong answers. We use naturally occurring materials which not only creates things of aesthetic pleasure but also allows us to fuse art with nature and utilise materials which would have been otherwise discarded. It is truly a liberating place whereby you are free to express your most authentic self and meet like-minded, innovative volunteers from all around the world.

Nove Starine offers a unique space for an abundance of activities that the local and international community can partake in. Poetry nights are regularly hosted around stone carved chairs, an outdoor cinema is available for showing independent films and documentaries, a wooden library can be found on the land with a multitude of books in several languages, a large outdoor gym and recreational area used for exercise, play, and various form of mediation. We are also excited to be in the process of preparing the space for a music festival. The festival will be a space whereby artists all around the world will perform music born out of a genuine passion, regardless of the genre. The possibilities for new events are endless and Ivan is always open to new ideas which ensures that Nove Starine is in a state of constant growth.
