Konbit Haiti

Konbit Haiti Partnering with communities to T H R I V E by developing the family, business, and the environment.

Helping communities transform themselves to T H R I V E

In a world of immediate self gratification, Konbit Haiti focuses on development where the locals are the heroes to their own transformation. Konbit Haiti is a collaborative movement with local leaders as the heroes to their communities development. When foreigners partner with locals, instead of implementing projects or ideas, locals are empowered and transformation is sustainable.

We’ve been through a lot together these few months! With increased gang activity near our main hub of operations, we have had plenty of opportunity to support and minister to those who have had to flee their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

As we work alongside these families and communities, we know sustainability is a large part of our outreach. We’ve been so thankful to gather, to teach, and to love the communities we serve well. We are operating outreaches in several communities on the island of Hispaniola. Want to know more about where we work? Check out our website!

We’ve been building rain tanks for over a decade and on the island and in certain areas, they are the most appropriate solution for those communities. Before we build, we spend time with communities and they collectively vote on what projects or solutions they want. These communities not only maintain them, but they often replicate them in other parts of the community!

Meet Esmerelda! As one of our graduates from our first business cohort, she was feeling adrift trying to make her business work in her city. Through the training, she learned principles that are helping her business become profitable- she is reaching new goals now that she never knew would be possible.

In her own words: “It’s a business that will never stop growing, because every step, every difficulty, every victory makes it stronger. I felt like my future was threatened... but when I look at my business, I remember why I started, and I find my strength again.”

Thank you to Seed International and our many amazing partners who have made this happen!

Haitian proverbs have a deep place in the culture of this nation. One of the proverbs simple- tout moun se moun, every person is a person. It feels like a good time to remember we are all human, trying to get it right and sojourn on this planet. We believe there is much to learn from this rich culture. And we also believe in the importance of every person’s dignity and value.

We had a blast last week as we worked one on one with our first small business cohort graduates. We are so thankful to get to do this work, even though some of us are doing it from afar. Each person - from those praying to those advocating to those donating to the people teaching to our ground partners- makes this work possible! Thank you for being a part! We can’t wait to see how our business graduates grow! 🌱

Konbit continues to make impacts in our communities, despite all that is going on in the world. 🌎

Shown here are two of our most cherished staff who have been leading training and classes, programs and outreach, caring for families and communities… all amongst the turmoil in Haiti. Without our leaders and the grace of God, our donors and friends, none of this would be possible!

Please keep Dan and Carlson- and all of our incredible staff spanning from the DR to Haiti to the US- in your prayers and thoughts as we continue to serve families and communities! 🙏

The first seeds have been planted. 🌱

After our farming seminar, families are growing their very first crops. For many, this is so much more than a garden. It is a step toward food security, renewed purpose, and hope after being displaced from their homes.

Agriculture has long been the backbone of Haiti, providing livelihoods for millions of people and contributing significantly to the country’s economy. When families have the knowledge and resources to grow food, they are investing in their future and strengthening their communities.

We are incredibly grateful to walk alongside these families as they cultivate not only the land, but also resilience, independence, and hope. We cannot wait to see what grows from these first seeds. 🇭🇹💚
