On Friday, 7th August, 2026, His Excellency (Engr.) Abasi Ogwime Braimah, held a familiarisation meeting at the Embassy, with the Executive Members of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Hungary Chapter, namely: Otumba Omotunde Komolafe, Chairman; Aese Agaigbe, General Secretary; Oyun Adesoye, Financial Secretary; Aese Cynthia Aese, Social Secretary; and Erenwa Olaedo Cynthia, Treasurer.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Ambassador to convey his commitment to fostering unity, cooperation and mutual support among Nigerians in Hungary and across Mission’s countries of accreditation, to strengthen collective engagement, promote welfare and ensure that the interests and aspirations of Nigerians in the Diaspora are adequately represented and advanced.

His Excellency further emphasised the importance of constructive collaboration between the Embassy and NIDO, as well as other Nigerian community organisations, in promoting a cohesive, vibrant and supportive Nigerian community for the benefit of all.

H.E. Hon. (Engr.) Abasi Braimah, Ambassador-Designate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Hungary, arrived at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport on 28th July 2026 to commence his diplomatic assignment. He was received on arrival by officers of the Nigerian Embassy, representatives of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, members of NIDO, and representatives of Nigerian students.
