Zeneműtárunk egyik fő vonzereje teljes állományunk szabadpolcon való elérése. Kölcsönözhető dokumentumaink jelenleg a beiratkozási díj fejében hazavihetők. A könyvtár állományába tartozó zenei témájú szakkönyvek a könyvtár raktárából kérhetők fel helyben használatra, kölcsönzésre. Cédulakatalógusunk bővítését 1995-ben lezártuk. Azóta folyamatosan építjük online katalógusunkat ( https://opac3.oik.hu/ ), melyben a hanglemezek kivételével minden dokumentum részleges vagy teljes leírása elérhető. The Music Collection opened at the present venue in September 1996. Prior to that, it was located in Városligeti fasor (Fasori Music Collection, Gorkij Music Collection). Scope of the Collection
The backbone of the collection was initially made up of works by Soviet composers and Western classical composers in Soviet editions in the form of printed music pieces (music scores) and records. Later, the collection was continuously expanded with music pieces published in Western and Eastern Europe. In developing the collection, we currently focus on collecting:
· printed and recorded documents of the history of music around the world;
· Hungarian folk music, traditional music of minorities in Hungary and the traditional music of other European and non-European peoples;
· jazz and world music;
· recordings by world-famous Hungarian and foreign conductors, performers and orchestras, as well as young artists. Collection

Its tasks include helping users obtain information, do research or study, as well as facilitating the professional work of music librarians. Loans and Catalogue
One of the main attractions of our music library is that the entire collection is available on open shelves. Documents available for loan may be checked out against a registration fee. Books on music in the library collection are available on request from the storage stacks for use on the spot or for loan. We terminated the development of our card catalogue in 1995. Since then we have been continuously developing our online catalogue, in which partial or full descriptions of the entire collection is available, except for records. We strive to create a pleasant atmosphere for intense work by maintaining silence or playing quiet music. We hope that our exhibitions, concerts, special music classes and services will attract more and more music-lovers to our music collection and library.
