On 5 May 2026, the IPC Secretariat convened a virtual pre-training exchange with stakeholders in East Lampung, marking an initial step in shaping a field-oriented capacity-building initiative.

The session brought together representatives from government, the private sector, and farmer groups in a constructive dialogue aimed at aligning perspectives, understanding field realities, and ensuring that future activities remain responsive to the needs of farmers.

While still at an early stage, the exchange reflected a shared openness to explore collaborative approaches in strengthening the pepper sector, supported by close coordination among relevant stakeholders.

Looking ahead, this initiative is envisaged as part of a broader effort to support pepper farmers across IPC Member Countries. Its further development will be carried out in coordination with relevant ministries and institutions in each member country, ensuring that any future activities are appropriately adapted to national contexts and priorities.

On 29 April 2026, the International Pepper Community (IPC) Secretariat, under the leadership of Executive Director Marina Novira Anggraini, convened a coordination meeting with Mr. Ir. Johni Martha, ACCS, MBA, in his capacity as Chairman of the IPC for 2026.

The exchange marked an important moment in shaping the year ahead. As preparations continue under the 2026 Chairmanship, the meeting provided a space to align direction, refine priorities, and ensure that the foundations are firmly in place, particularly in the lead-up to the 54th IPC Annual Session and Meetings.

The conversation moved fluidly across key areas, from mapping out preparatory milestones to framing strategic priorities for the global pepper sector, while also strengthening coordination between the Chairmanship and the Secretariat. Each element forms part of a broader effort to ensure that the work of the IPC remains coherent, forward-looking, and grounded in the needs of its Member Countries.

On 29 April 2026, the International Pepper Community (IPC) Secretariat, led by Executive Director Marina Novira Anggraini, held a consultative meeting with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism as part of the preparations for the 54th IPC Annual Session.

Hosted by Ibu Ni Made Ayu Martha, the discussion focused on aligning efforts to ensure a well-prepared and meaningful international gathering.

Beyond coordination, the exchange centered on how to shape a session that delivers real value. A platform that brings together member countries, industry voices, and technical stakeholders in a way that encourages dialogue, strengthens cooperation, and reflects the evolving priorities of the global pepper sector.

The 54th IPC Session and Meetings, to be held in Bali from 30 November to 4 December 2026, are envisioned as more than an annual event. They are a space for connection, perspective, and collective progress.

The International Pepper Community (IPC) Secretariat recently hosted a forward-looking dialogue that puts farming communities exactly where they belong at the center of the conversation.

Led by Executive Director Marina Novira Anggraini, the session brought together Mr. Sidi Rana Menggala from the GEF Small Grants Programme and Mr. Kris S. of PT Supa Surya Niaga, building a shared vision that connects sustainability, community empowerment, and market realities.

In Bangkok, as regional leaders convene for the 82nd Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), a shared commitment takes center stage: ensuring that development reaches every segment of society.

Representing the International Pepper Community (IPC), Executive Director Ms. Marina Novira Anggraini leads the Secretariat’s mission to contribute to this important dialogue. In Hanoi, a meaningful dialogue continued to take shape. On 15 April 2026, the International Pepper Community delegation, led by Executive Director Ms. Marina Novira Anggraini, held a constructive consultative session with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

The meeting was represented by Mr. Vu Duc Dam Quang, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation within the global pepper community.

Acting in its capacity as an intergovernmental organization, the IPC Secretariat engaged in the discussion, representing the collective interests of all member countries. In Hanoi, at the Embassy of Indonesia, a meaningful conversation unfolded, quiet in setting, yet significant in purpose.

On 13 April 2026, the International Pepper Community delegation, led by Executive Director Ms. Marina Novira Anggraini, was warmly received by H.E. Adam Mulawarman Tugio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

Representing the IPC Secretariat, the engagement reflected the Community’s collective mandate, bringing together perspectives across member countries, while remaining anchored in inclusivity and shared benefit. What began as a diplomatic courtesy evolved into a thoughtful exchange on how the Community can further strengthen its role as a trusted platform for cooperation among producing and consuming countries alike.

On 2 April 2026, the International Pepper Community (IPC) had the honour of holding a high-level consultation in the Riau Islands with Dr. Haris Nyanyang Pratamura, Chairman of HKTI Riau Islands and Deputy Governor of the Riau Islands, joined by Mr. Jarmin, S.E., Vice Regent of Natuna, and Mr. Budi Lesmana, Chairman of OKK HKTI Riau Islands.

What emerged from the discussion was more than a meeting; it was a shared pathway toward moving pepper-growing communities beyond conventional commodity trade into higher-value opportunities through downstream innovation, stronger product positioning, and sustainable farmer prosperity.

This spirit of collaboration reflects how meaningful progress can grow when regional leadership, farmer networks, and institutional vision move in harmony. It is this shared commitment that continues to open new possibilities for pepper-producing communities across regions and throughout IPC member countries.

On 31 March 2026, the International Pepper Community (IPC) and the School of Economics, Business, and Management, Institute of Technology Batam (ITEBA) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as a strategic follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding established in early December 2025.

Signed by Ms. Marina N. Anggraini, Executive Director of the IPC, and Mr. Taufiq Rahman, S.T., M.T., Dean of the School of Economics, Business, and Management at ITEBA, this milestone reflects a shared commitment to transforming institutional intent into practical collaboration.

The partnership will advance research, professional development, and sustainable economic innovation, bringing together academic insight and global industry perspectives to support the long-term resilience of the pepper sector.

More than a formal signing, this MOA represents the next step in building a stronger bridge between knowledge and impact, designed to benefit stakeholders across the global pepper community.

Strengthening Dialogue with Brazil in the Global Pepper Sector

Behind every berry of pepper traded across the world lies a network of farmers, markets, and international cooperation that connects producing countries across continents.

On 6 March 2026, the International Pepper Community (IPC), led by Executive Director Ms. Marina Novira Anggraini, held a consultative meeting at the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Jakarta. The IPC delegation was received by Mr. Carlos Roberto Turchetto, Agricultural Attaché, representing H.E. Mr. George Monteiro Prata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Indonesia.

As one of the world’s leading pepper producers, Brazil continues to play an important role in shaping global supply dynamics and market developments. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the evolving landscape of the global pepper industry and the importance of closer cooperation among producing countries.

Discussions covered several key areas, including strengthening multilateral cooperation in the pepper trade, enhancing institutional engagement within the IPC framework, and addressing shared challenges such as market volatility, climate adaptation, and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across producing countries.

The exchange also highlighted the value of broader participation by major producing nations in shaping a more coordinated and resilient global pepper community.
