On Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the ASEAN-IPR Secretariat team paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of Ireland to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, H.E. Sharon Lennon. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss areas of common interest between ASEAN-IPR and Ireland and explore potential opportunities for future collaboration.

During the meeting, they discussed on current trends in global peace and security -- namely those affecting the Southeast Asian region. The Ambassador of Ireland also shared some of best practices and lessons learned from peace processes in her country. On 30 July 2026, the Executive Director (ED) of ASEAN-IPR paid a courtesy call to H.E. Ms. Prinat Apirat, Representative of Thailand to the ASEAN-IPR Governing Council.

During the meeting, Thailand expressed its appreciation for the Institute's work and encouraged ASEAN-IPR to continue strengthening its research efforts in support of its mandate to promote peace, conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and reconciliation in the region.

Moreover, Thailand also commended the ED for his dedicated leadership and recognised the Institute's progress in advancing its mandate across ASEAN.

The Executive Director (ED) of ASEAN-IPR paid a courtesy call to H.E. Sitsangkhom Sisaketh, Representative of Lao PDR to the ASEAN-IPR Governing Council, on 29 July 2026.

During the meeting, ASEAN-IPR expressed its appreciation for Lao PDR's sustained support for the Institute's visibility initiatives through its voluntary contribution, particularly for the ASEAN-IPR exhibition booth at the ASEAN Day Open House Celebrations.

Furthermore, Lao PDR also congratulated the ED on his able leadership over the past six years, acknowledging the Institute's continued efforts to advance peace in the region.

On 28 July 2026, the Executive Director (ED) of ASEAN-IPR paid a courtesy call to H.E. Noy Choumneanh, Representative of Cambodia to the ASEAN-IPR Governing Council.

During the meeting, Cambodia reaffirmed its support for ASEAN-IPR's work in advancing research and capacity-building initiatives on conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and reconciliation.

The discussion also underscored the importance of learning from experiences beyond the region, including through exchanges with countries that have expertise in conflict resolution, in support of the Institute's continued efforts to promote sustainable peace across ASEAN.

This year, the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) marks its 50th Anniversary. For five decades, the TAC has served as a key foundation for ASEAN in promoting peace, stability, dialogue, and cooperation in the region and beyond.

ASEAN-IPR WPS Training Programme Module 3.5: Strengthening WPS Implementation Through the YPS Agenda" brought together participants from ASEAN Member States for an integrated discussions and share real-world experiences in policy processes.

Through interactive presentations, case studies, and simulations, participants explored how the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agendas can be applied to address pressing regional challenges.

ASEAN-IPR brought together academics and practitioners from across ASEAN Member States for the 2nd Regional Focus Group Discussion on Preventing Violent Radicalization among the Youth, held on 26 June.

The discussion opened up a meaningful space for participants to share their expertise, perspectives, and insights on violent radicalization in the region — contributing to the baseline study and module development for the upcoming ASEAN-IPR Course on Preventing Violent Radicalization among the Youth.

This project is supported by the Republic of Korea (ROK Mission to ASEAN 주아세안대표부 ) through ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF).

Selected authors will be invited to participate in the ASEAN-IPR Course on Preventing Violent Radicalisation among the Youth in Bali, Indonesia, with training-related costs (inclusive of round-trip airfare, accommodation and airport transfer) covered by ASEAN-IPR.

The best essays will have the opportunity to be published in ASEAN-IPR’s official platforms.
