Semangka Hydroelectric Power Project

Semangka Hydroelectric Power Project Semangka Hydroelectric Power Project (HEPP) Introduction
The Plant will be located at Tanggamus regency, Lampung Province, Indonesia.

The Plant will have rated capacity of 28 MW×2 units. The Plant will utilize the discharge of Semangka river. Project background
Currently, most of the national electricity demand still depends a lot on thermal energy and oil energy especially for areas outside Java. To reduce the consumption of non-renewable natural resources, as well as environmental protection against pollution due to fossil fue

combustion, developing the potential of water resources to fulfill the necessity of electricity is an alternative resource that should receive special attention. Indonesia with its topographical condition and geographical climate condition has great potential for the
development and utilization of water resources. In conjunction with the government policy in terms of energy diversification and environmental friendly, the potential for hydropower has
priority to be developed further. Development of electricity in Indonesia is managed by PT. PLN (Persero) authorized by the government who is responsible for procurement, management and development of electrical energy, including planning, construction, operating, transmission, and distribution systems. Besides it also plans to meet the needs of electrical energy and electrical energy prices guided by government regulations. PT PLN (Persero) has conducted studies of water energy potential for power generation in Indonesia, including 1,275 locations with a total potential of about 75,000MW. However, at this moment the potential has only been utilized for approximately 25,600MW. Given the scale of this potential, the opportunities for the development of water power to generate electricity in Indonesia is quite large. One of the hydro power potentialities is Semangka Hydroelectric Power Plant development that utilizes Semangka river. In conjunction with the policy on energy development, energy growth and energy demand of electricity in South Sumatra region is recorded very high. Thus the Semangka river is a very important part in order to realize the policy
